A time for every event under heaven...

                June - July 2016 Communiqué

Dear Friends,
Summer is finally here in Paris although it took some time for the warmer temperatures to arrive. Now some days are extremely hot and we must take care to make sure we are drinking enough water and not getting too much sun!

These are times of extremes - drought and flooding, peace and violence, celebration and mourning, life and death ... Even now we have news of shooting in Munich, Germany. God's Word is our reference and Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 comes to mind:

1 There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven-
2 A time to give birth and a time to die;
A time to plant and a time to uproot what is planted.
3 A time to kill and a time to heal;
A time to tear down and a time to build up.
4 A time to weep and a time to laugh;
A time to mourn and a time to dance.
5 A time to throw stones and a time to gather stones;
A time to embrace and a time to shun embracing.
6 A time to search and a time to give up as lost;
A time to keep and a time to throw away.
7 A time to tear apart and a time to sew together;
A time to be silent and a time to speak.
8 A time to love and a time to hate;
A time for war and a time for peace.

Whatever the "time", it is so good to know that God is with us! Emmanuel! Verse 11 encourages us that "He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart..." Oh! that all would seek HIM!

During these perilous times in France, I am grateful for your love, support and faithful prayers as we continue to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ. Lives are being reached for Jesus!

June and July have brought fruitful times around the Book of James for several who participated in our James Life Groups. We had 14 baptisms, our largest group since the Bridge International Church began.
I took a team from Church in the Son, Orlando, FL on a prayer walk at Nanterre University. Our France Field got together for a picnic. I had a short visit with my brother Mark and his wife Ann in Basel, Switzerland. Friends from Maryland looked me up for a visit in Paris on July 5th. What fun!

God is good all the time!

Enjoy Him and His goodness in the midst of whatever time you may be.

With much love and appreciation,

James Life Groups

Our first summer Life Groups were entirely dedicated to delving into the book of James. I had the joy of leading a group on Thursday evenings in Paris. We also had a five-week sermon series from James and coordinated the discussions accordingly. What a practical study!

Water Baptism

Sunday afternoon, June 26, 2016 is a time that fourteen people will always remember. One of them, I had the privilege and delight of baptizing myself - Emmanuelle N'Kodia, one of my university students. Oh! Happy Day!

Following Christ into the waters of baptism is the mark of dying to self and rising to new life in Christ Jesus, our Lord.

A Memorable Family Visit

Nothing like a short visit with family! I visited with my brother Mark and his wife Ann in Basel, Switzerland - a new city, a new experience for all of us.

Special Visit

Joshua told me he remembers me pretty much being around during all his childhood. His parents, Michael and Mary Harding are very dear friends. Joshua contacted me with his wife Anna on their first visit to Paris. Now that just warmed my heart.
Here we are together July 5th near the Seine River just down from Notre Dame. We stopped by Shakespeare and Co., had lunch in the Latin Quarter and finished with a view of St. Michael the Archangel. Here we are just before we said adieu.
University Student Ministry Training

In just one more week, on Friday, July 29, I'll be heading to Hohegrete, Germany for our annual SFC Connect '16 Conference. Two dedicated former students will be accompanying me to be equipped, empowered and encouraged to reach, teach and send out students from our SFC ministry at The Bridge International Church.

Please pray for us as we travel and also as we learn more and prepare for yet another academic year.

Pray specifically for us as we develop a strategy for reaching Nanterre University.
