E. P. Scott, a missionary to India, when confronted by hostile tribesmen played his violin and sang "All Hail The Power of Jesus' Name." When he reached the stanza "let every kindred, every tribe," he saw to his surprise every spear lowered and many of these tribesmen moved to tears. God used a simple hymn as a means of introducing the gospel to this people.

Edward Perronet, the author of "All Hail the Power," was a descendant of a French Huguenot family who had fled to Switzerland and later to England because of the religious persecution in France.
