e-Communiqué - September-October 2014

Greetings from Paris, France on this Indian summer day! September and October brought in all the activities of the "rentrée" when children go back to school, university students arrive for another academic year and the French working world gets into full swing.

Enjoy reading about the events that you prayed for in my last e-Communiqué! I will also give you a preview of what's to come in November so you will know how to pray for me.
Open Doors at The Bridge

Our major Fall welcoming event for newcomers to The Bridge International Church on Sept. 28 was a great success. We had two services and after each one we had games for the children, Life Group sign-ups for the adults (our small groups), food and drinks.

What better way is there to welcome people new to Paris and The Bridge. Several new families and individuals have been coming regularly. We are growing. Thank you for your prayers.
Learning to Follow Jesus

Life Groups, our small group program at The Bridge, is featuring daily discipleship using Daniel McNaughton's book, Learning to Follow Jesus. Our sermon series, Follow, is also highlighting each one of the seven attributes. Over 100 people have signed up and are reading the book and many are meeting in small groups on a weekly basis to discuss the attribute for the week.

I'm leading a group by Skype and TheBridge University Students and Young Professionals are getting together each week to share as well. Here we are below at one of our meetings.

Alpha Course
The Alpha Course is an opportunity to explore life and the Christian faith, in a friendly, open and informal environment. Part of our Life Groups every session is the Alpha Course. This session we have been meeting every Friday evening and the course is in French. Please continue to pray for the group that each one will receive and believe.
A Special Luncheon

Daphne Norwood surprised me as she came to Paris on a first ever visit. We had lunch at La Cremaillère, a restaurant in Montmartre and one of my favorite places to take first-time visitors to Paris.

Daphne, George, her husband and family live in Germany and have served university students for over 20 years.

We had a great time catching up and thanking God for all that he has done throughout the years in our lives and in the lives of those we have served.

Solideo
Singing at the Festival in Avignon.

The first weekend of October, I went to Valence to attend Solideo's annual assembly. I'll be serving on the spiritual advisory team.

This dedicated and dynamic evangelism group is actively spreading the Gospel throughout France and now has a team in Belgium.
The Bridge in Bastogne

The second weekend of October, I went to Bastogne, Belgium to minister with Justine Hintz, a young Christian woman serving for a year with Kerby and Sheila Rials, AGWM missionary colleagues. Kerby had invited me to come to serve the church while he and Sheila were away.

What a delight to get to know Justine, visit the town and meet all the people she has encountered. The Bridge, a new church in Bastogne, recently had its inauguration in a storefront building on the town's main street. We had Sunday lunch at a restaurant with American memorabilia. That's Justine with a poster featuring Route 66!

Bastogne is famous for the Battle of the Bulge. I was impressed by the War Museum and the Mardasson Memorial, honoring American soldiers who fought in the Battle of the Bulge.

TopChretien.com/Jesus.net

These website ministries, inaugurated in France, are impacting the world. Take a look at Jesus.net to get an idea of how many people are being reached with the Gospel. A wide range of organizations all over the world are partnering together. The vision is "Imagine a world with every single person having free access to the gospel, knowing God, growing in Jesus and sharing faith easily."

Volunteer Luncheon

I recently attended a Luncheon held in honor of the ministry volunteers. How encouraging it is to realize the number of people who are part of this ever-expanding, effective ministry.

Here I am pictured with Myriam whom I met in Chambéry when I first came to France. Myriam became part of the student ministry then, and ever since, I have followed her throughout the years. She is now married and a mother. Most importantly she is following the Lord Jesus with her whole heart.

What a joy it was for me to reminisce with her and celebrate what God has done in and through each one of us.

Myriam serves TopChretien.com especially in the section TopMusic. I, too, continue to be an advocate for TopChretien.com and Jesus.net even though as of this fall 2014 I am no longer part of the regular office team.
