The Biblical Golfer

Last year, I took up playing golf for exercise, a break from routine, and opportunities to share the Gospel with other playing partners. Today was a red-letter day! As I entered the golf course playing area, the course "sheriff", who verifies we have paid and puts us with others to play our round, welcomed me with a big smile and a handshake. We had not seen each other in a while. He chatted with me a bit and when, much to his surprise, he found out that I was still actively working, he asked me what I did.

When I told him that I shared the Gospel primarily with university students, he said, "Oh, that's why you are so calm! You are a woman of God!" I was full of joy that he had noticed there was something different about me. He shared that he had been brought up around religious men and women. He asked me how he could find especially Evangelical resources in English. He has access to the Internet, so right away I referred him to Jesus.net. I know I will find out what he has discovered. I am looking forward to the next time I see him.

The "sheriff" put me with two gentlemen to make a threesome for the round of nine holes. I enjoyed the round and actually played very well. My fellow players asked me to have some refreshments with them before leaving the course. I accepted their invitation, and as we talked and got to know one another, God opened the door wide-open for me to share my relationship with Jesus. One of the young men had so many questions and admitted he had never read the Bible. He even asked if he could have my phone number so we could meet up again. On his cell phone, he indicated in a note under my profile: "golfeuse biblique". What joy to be known as the biblical golfing lady!

Be ready wherever you are to be used of the Lord! You never know when and where you will meet someone who is ready and waiting to meet Jesus!

Summer Months
July and August were filled with various ministry activities beginning with our France Field Fellowship July 4th Celebration Get-Together on Saturday, July 13th. Next, was preparing to travel to the SFC Connect '13 in Hohegrete, Germany from July 24th to August 1st. Then, we said "Au Revoir" to Candace Cowsert, our summer intern. After that, I headed out to Vichy, France to meet up with Solideo to serve as their spiritual coach during a week of training. At the end of the training, I took a few days of R&R to visit Vichy, play golf, and be a tourist in the surrounding area. Finally, I capped off the month of August on a team-building retreat with Top Mission. Enjoy the photos that illustrate each activity!

The missionary family in France gets together two times a year - in July, for Independence Day and in November, for Thanksgiving. This July, we were thirteen adults and seven children at our Independence Day Get-Together. The weather was perfect for a picnic in the Lindermans yard in the town of Buc near Versailles. The children enjoyed the pool.

In the picture above, Tim Southerland is chatting with John and Nancy LeCossec, Ed Buck, Amanda Tyson, Karen Linderman, and Candace Cowsert. I enjoyed organizing the get-together and once again seeing everyone all together.

Once again, SfC Connect '13, our Students for Christ leadership training was held in the lovely town of Hohegrete about 2hours from Cologne, Germany. Remix from Grenoble and The Bridge University Students from Paris represented SfC France. Five of us filled my van from Paris. What a blessing to have had Rachelle Jensen join us from California! She flew into Paris a day before our departure for Germany. It was fun driving her around Paris so she could see the main monuments. She came as a volunteer to head up the children's program at Connect '13. Here's a picture of her I took just after she had had a quick view of the Eiffel Tower.

Lisa Russi and Joy Krajicek were also with us at Connect '13. They had recently arrived from the USA to join the France missionary team in Grenoble with Mark and Dalene Good. Joy is third from the left pictured above and Lisa is right in the middle with Dalene at her right shoulder. I am way over on the right.

Adieu to Candace

Candace Cowsert
Candace Cowsert
Candace Cowsert gave her summer months in service to the Lord as an intern at The Bridge International Church in Paris. The entire staff really appreciated her willingness to help in any and every way she could from learning to drive standard transmission, to helping with administrative tasks, to leading the congregation in worship. If you believe God is calling you to work with The Bridge, contact us.

Solideo
Solideo- August 2013
Sound and lights check in Vichy.

The Assembly of God church in Vichy welcomed Solideo from August 10-18 for a week of intense preparation for a tour of evangelistic concerts. Once again, I had the privilege of teaching and encouraging the team as their spiritual coach. Singers and musicians came together from all over France to coordinate what they had been learning on their own. What a delight to experience the blending of instruments and voices as throughout the week rigorous practice of a varied repertoire led to a beautifully orchestrated concert! Most of the team members met one another for the first time, so it was even a greater delight to see a community come together as brothers and sisters in the Lord's family. Caroline Ferraro, pictured below on my right was the group's administrative director and Carole Couedel, to my left, organized our stay in Vichy.

Pray for this vibrant ministry that God multiplies the groups and provides for all of their needs!

Touring Central France
St. Pourcain
Saint-Pourcain-sur-Sioule
Touring after the training week with Solideo brought me to Saint-Pourcain-sur-Sioule where the Tour de France centennial celebration was an event to remember. A big yellow map of France was at the town entrance and bicycles were displayed all over the town. It was the start of the 14th stage of the 2013 Tour de France. I also visited the medieval village of Charroux. There I enjoyed a visit to the museum, a wonderful lunch, a walk around the town to visit shops for jams and the famous Charroux mustard. I relaxed as I admired the beautiful fields.

Fields to feast the eyes upon.

Every area of France I have visited is unique. I find a certain charm and beauty in every region. Not surprising that I love this country and the people! God has sent me and my love increases for them as I anticipate the revival of love for the Lord in their hearts that he has promised! Come Holy Spirit!

Top Mission Team-Building Retreat
Eating wild blackberries!
Rebecca, Carolle, Michael.
We didn't discover them right away but when we did, Carolle, Rebecca, Michael and I indulged in eating wild blackberries as we went off on a two-hour hike around the Terebinthes Vacation Center, the location for the first Top Mission Team-Building Retreat. We were in the Sarthe region of France just about two hours to the east of Paris. The weather for the three full days was beautiful. We had a variety of activities to choose from: hiking, biking, swimming, tree-climbing, and all of us engaged as teams in The Great Game. We all got lots of sun and exercise, got to know one another, discussed, had meals, prayed, and worshiped together. It was a great way to kick-off the back-to-work season.

Thank you for your prayers and faithful financial support so that we might serve the Lord together in reaching the lost of France. I'm forever grateful to the Lord for the joy and the privilege of serving him. It is such a wonder to know that I am in the center of his will.

Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
