Greetings!
So far this calendar year five parties have donated their vehicles to KWMR! This is an important revenue stream for the radio station. Your old wheels (car, truck, motorcycle, boat, RV) become operational income for the radio station. Got an old rig that doesn't run well (or at all)? Not psyched up to put it in the paper or on Craigslist and then deal with the onslaught of potential buyers? Been pondering just how you can show your appreciation for all those fun programs that entertain, soothe, drive you crazy and get you local info?
Just call 1-888-KWMR-AUTO (we know there is an extra letter), and we assure you that this will connect you with the helpful folks at Center for Car Donations in Bend, OR. Thanks for thinking of KWMR!

Youth DJ - Declan's Hour of Soul

Submitted by Declan Katz
Soul music as well as radio is something that has always been a big part of my life. I was looking for an internship to get myself into college and my school-to-career liaison recommended a few options. I could intern at a law firm or be a radio DJ. The choice was obvious. I have been able to experiment with all kinds of soul ranging from classic artist such as "Al Green" or "Prince" to stuff as new as "Janelle Monae" or "Disclosure" and everything in between. I love to push the definition of soul and play things you might not hear anywhere else. In addition to soul ,I enjoy listening to Hip Hop, Alternative rock, Country, and electronic music. I am thrilled to be a part of such a great station.
Declan started at KWMR in October of 2013 and we look forward to his show (which alternates with Devon McMorrow's show The Retro Rock Hour) Wednesdays from 4 - 5 pm. Declan commutes from Tiburon to do his show.

| An older photo of Richard Dillman sporting some groovy duds - not that he was wearing this when County Fire called, but he could have been! |
West Marin has a two way radio system used by Disaster Council members, first responders and KWMR to maintain communications during an emergency. At around 11pm Sunday evening the walkie-talkie at Richard Dillman's bedside crackled to life with a call from the Marin County Fire Department. A utility pole had been sheered off by a vehicle and was blocking both lanes of Sir Francis Drake Blvd south of Inverness. County fire wanted this information to be broadcast over KWMR to advise motorists traveling in the area. No staff were present at KWMR as that hour on a Sunday and the station was broadcasting recorded programming. Dillman used a special interface at the station, built for just this purpose. By entering a special code he was able to interrupt KWMR programming and broadcast the traffic updates from home. "The system worked great, " said Dillman, "just as we hoped it would. I even received text messages from listeners who appreciated the updates."
Editors Note: In all seriousness, KWMR takes emergency broadcasting, from traffic and weather updates all the way to a full scale disaster, VERY seriously and is constantly working on the community's behalf to ensure that we can be here for the listeners when you most need the information.
...Also, watch out what you release onto the interwebs, it might turn up in the Round Up!
