NEW PRODUCT ANNOUNCEMENT!
August, 2014
The New CMCP-TKPro Vibration Test Kit

The CMCP-TKPro is used to provide a calibrated mechanical vibration using a variable speed Wobble Plate. A Precision Dial Indicator is used to position the Swing Arm to the desired amplitude. The Dial Indicator is then replaced with a Proximity Probe. Both the Proximity Probe System and Monitoring System can be verified by this method. The CMCP-TKPro's Wobble plate is 4140 Steel which is the standard for all Proximity Systems. The CMCP-TKPro is battery powered using a long life Li-Ion battery, Smart Charger is included. The CMCP-TKPro also runs on AC power using the Smart Charger provided.
The New CMCP-TKSC Shaft Calibrator

The CMCP-TKSC Shaft Calibrator is used to determine the actual Proximity Probe System Output in mv/mil or mv/um of a machine shaft or piston rod. Proximity Probe Systems are calibrated by the manufactures to 200 mv/mil (7.87 mv/um) using a 4140 Steel as standard.

The actual machine shaft or rod response (sensitivity) to a Proximity Probes System can be quickly calculated by using the CMCP-TKSC measuring the actual target surface. Knowing the correct calibration allows monitoring system to be adjusted to read vibration, thrust or rod drop correctly. Electrical or mechanical runout measurement can also be easily corrected for sensitivity.

Tech Note 102: Powering - 24 VDC Eddy Probes

All Eddy Probes or NCPU's (Non-Contacting Pickups) System's, Drivers or Proximitors in common use today require -24 VDC power. In transmitter based PLC and DCS monitoring systems with standard +24 VDC powering this requires an additional power supply be added to create -24 VDC.  The +24 VDC wires cannot simply be reversed, as this will create a direct short across the power supply.

The following diagram shows how to wire two (2) 24 VDC power supplies to create both (+) and (-) voltages with a shared common. Although not required the power supplies should be as close to each other as possible to prevent differences in ground potential.

When ordering a CMCP500 Series Monitoring System using Eddy Probes order two (2) 24 VDC supplies. Wiring will be completed to supply both (+) and (-) 24 VDC in our integration shop.

Examples of Voltage and Amperage Requirements:

1. Eddy Probe Proximitors and Drivers, -24 VDC, 50 mA each.
2. CMCP540 or 545 Transmitters, +24 VDC, 50 mA each.
3. CMCP540A or 545A Monitors, +24 VDC, 100 mA each.
