RE: The Advocacy Hub Awaits! FTC Investigation of Unfair State Licencsing Requirements
|
Dear NCISS members,
The Board wants to take this opportunity to encourage NCISS members and other website visitors to utilize the Advocacy Hub to contact your elected officials concerning issues important to our profession.
Successful advocacy begins with communication. Members of Congress, the Administration, and state and local officials need to hear from constituents concerning how laws and regulations will impact their business and livelihood. If a bill or regulation is pending, you can be sure that other groups/associations/interests are driving it. It is essential that government officials hear the countervailing view (and, just as equally, voices in support).
The key to making advocacy work is to engage before the die is cast. Facts and opinions must make their way into the drafting process. In public policy debates, it is axiomatic that "he who hesitates is lost".
NCISS has put in place a system that allows our colleagues nation-wide to avoid this pitfall, by providing our industry a platform to reach out to officials on issues important to our practice. But to have value, it must be utilized! And we are making this service available to non-NCISS members for a limited time to demonstrate its value. In the future, access will be available only to NCISS members, so be sure and take it for a test-drive.
We know that you are busy, with many important things vying for your attention. We urge you, however, to take a few moments, familiarize yourself with the Advocacy Hub, and get involved! To assist in this this task, Dean Beers has composed a highly helpful guide which can be found here: http://goo.gl/51CBMi
In addition, if there's an issue that you want to see addressed on the Hub, let us know! We're happy to add content important to you. And with the 114th Congress on the horizon, we will be adding new material regularly, so be sure to check in.
We are incredibly pleased to be able to offer the NCISS Advocacy Hub to our members (and to visitors for a limited time) and we encourage you to take advantage of this great and unique service.
Respectfully,
James Huckabee, President
