15th Annual Native Plant Sale
April 27th
9am - 1pm
The Audubon Society of Central Maryland will hold its 15th annual Native Plant Sale on April 27, 2013, from
9 AM to 1PM, at the Audrey Carroll Audubon Sanctuary, located at 13030 Old Annapolis Road, in Mt Airy.
This year we are going 'green' by saving mail delivery and paper and using email for most of our members and customers.
The sale will feature over 130 species of trees, shrubs, perennials, ferns, groundcovers, grasses, and vines from local growers. The event is a key fundraiser, and is critical for supporting ongoing maintenance and habitat improvement at the sanctuaries in Mt. Airy and New Market, as well as educational programs and projects.

Guided Bird Walk
Saturday, April 20
9am - 11am
Fred Archibald Sanctuary
Participants will be looking for spring migrants such as Broad-winged Hawk, Brown Thrasher, Gray Catbird, American Robin, House Wren, Eastern Phoebe, Louisiana Waterthrush, Tree Swallow, and the first arrivals at the Purple Martin colony.  Most of our resident birds will be well into nesting by that time and should be in full song.  Some that we will see and hear include the Carolina Chickadee, Tufted Titmouse, White-breasted Nuthatch, Northern Cardinal, Red-bellied Woodpecker, Downy Woodpecker, Eastern Bluebird, and Carolina Wren.  There will also be plenty of butterflies beginning to emerge including the spring azure.  And for the plant lovers, things will be growing rapidly although the spring ephemeral flowers may be past their prime.  Come join in the explosion of spring!

People of all ages are welcome. The sanctuary entrance, marked by an "Audubon" sign, is located on Boyers Mill Road, just one mile north of Rte. 144. No rest room facilities are available, and the walk will be cancelled in the event of inclement weather. For further information contact Crystal Kunst at [email protected] or 443-536-3071, or see Audubon's web site at www.centralmdaudubon.org.
