Play It Safe Webinar: Wednesday, April 9
Let's wash our hands of animal-borne illness in 2014!

The Department of Food & Agriculture, California Fair Services Authority and Western Fairs Association first teamed up in 2011 to develop Play it Safe!, a comprehensive  consumer protection hand-washing campaign*. This year, the urgency for this campaign is as strong as ever, and the agencies are back with a free, 90-minute Play it Safe! webinar on April 9, 10 a.m., that will serve as a timely refresher course for some, and an introduction of the materials to others who are new to the topic. Fair CEOs, maintenance and livestock staff, fair volunteers and animal exhibitors are highly encouraged to attend. All you need is a computer with speakers and the log-on information registered California fairs will receive. Register now.

*The Play it Safe! webinar does not take the place of the International Association of Fairs and Exposition's (IAFE's) consumer protection training, and does not qualify for IAFE Institute credit for consumer protection program training.

Blue Ribbon Recipe Day, CA State Fair
Knowledge is for sharing. Invite your exhibitors to apply today!

The California State Fair invites you to share your blue-ribbon cooks and bakers with all of California at their first-ever Blue Ribbon Recipe Day! Any exhibitor who has won a Blue Ribbon at any California fair may apply to demonstrate their recipe in Cal Expo's Kitchen Theatre, Demonstration Counter or Farm Grill. The county fair who garners the most participation in the event will receive a bonus prize, presented at the 2015 WFA Convention. There is a 10-pound bar of chocolate (yes, pounds!) with your name on it and the 2014 1st place chocolate recipe. What do you do with 10 pounds of chocolate? You keep the office happy for a month!
