Call for WFA Board Nominations Five WFA board seats are up for re-election.
Five seats on the WFA board of directors are up for re-election. The Cascade, Sacramento, North Coast and Central Coast area director seats are open as well as one service member director seat. Fair managers, fair staff, fair directors and service members in good standing are eligible to serve on the WFA board. WFA directors serve a three-year term beginning in January 2014 and are eligible to serve two terms. The WFA board meets quarterly and oversees the organizations budget, policy development and program implementation. Nomination forms must be returned to the WFA office no later than September 23 and ballots, if necessary will be mailed no later than October 1.

Strategic Leadership Workshop
A workshop specifically designed for fair board directors.
The Big Fresno Fair will host WFA's first workshop for California fair board directors on October 5, 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Participants will learn the 10 principles outlined in Boards that Lead & Succeed--A Guide to Effective Fair Board Leadership, authored by renowned governance expert Bill Charney. Beacon Results will facilitate the session, building the knowledge, skills and abilities of board members to strengthen leadership for success in the current climate and years to come. Register now. Fall Managers' Conference
A conference specifically designed for fair managers.
The California Fairs Alliance presents the annual Fall Managers' Conference, Monday-Wednesday, November 4-6 at the Courtyard Marriott in Sacramento. 9 Days to Apply!
Musical acts and bands have until September 19 to apply for the entertainment showcase at the WFA Convention and Trade Show, January 5-8, in Anaheim. Selected by a committee of industry professionals, acts/bands chosen will perform 15-minute auditions in front of fair and festival entertainment buyers in one convenient location. Member Renewals
WFA staff is hard at workon the 2014 Date List and Membership Directory. To make this publication as accurate as possible, we need your help. Service members and fairs are asked to return their membership invoice and dues, or fair update forms to the WFA office by October 1. Those members not returning paperwork by October 1 may be cut from the directory. Only three advertising spots left in the 2014 membership directory!
