Staff Changes at Western Fairs Association

Carrie Wright, WFA marketing director, was appointed programs manager for the California Exposition & State Fair by Governor Jerry Brown. She started her appointment April 8. "We are excited to see Carrie making this transition," says WFA President Kent Hojem. "Her experience, passion and talent will be great assets for the California State Fair."

Moving Forward
Western Fairs Association is currently discussing association needs and will move forward with a replacement plan in June. In the meantime, staff members will assume various roles previously handled by the marketing director. Contact the following staff members for your needs:

New California Ag Magazine Launches

The AG Mag, an innovative four-color magazine, a useful tool to producers, a showcase for ag with a unique flair. A quarterly magazine that incorporates insightful content with human interest and out-of-the-box ideas of value to ag readers throughout the West.

Regular features include Talkin' Tradition, a personal account of a heritage ranch; The Next Generation, focusing on young ranchers and farmers; The Low Down, in-depth useful information for producers striving to keep pace in the every-changing ag world; and The State of the Fairs, a regular feature on fairs in the West.

The April issue of the AG Mag includes a comprehensive article on fairs which includes quotes by WFA Executive Director Stephen Chambers and fair managers from Modoc to San Diego. Chambers speaks to the changing role of the fairs in relation to their communities, not only in California, where funding has been severely cut, but throughout the Western states.

In addition, the AG Mag features special events, youth ag, artisan producers, ag health and ranch recipes. Call the Ag Mag at (530) 279-2099 to subscribe.
