OC Fair Feature Fair Tour, Register Now
WFA President Kent Hojem, Washington State Fair CEO, will accompany WFA members for a whirlwind tour of the OC Fair during the annual WFA Feature Fair Tour, July 24-25. Register now.
On Wednesday, enjoy breakfast on the beach, a flag raising ceremony, lunch in the Memorial Gardens and the fair from the air on the RCS Sky Ride and La Grande Wheel. Then receive behind-the-scene tours of the Centennial Farm, We Care Wednesday, the Action Sports Arena and the Hangar Building. The night will conclude with an OC Fair dinner with the board of directors and staff members, a Pacific Amphitheater Tour, a concert and fireworks. The next day, eat breakfast at Baja Blues and have the chance to ask fair staff questions. Then head off to tour the RCS carnival, Guest Services/Relations, the Pacific Amphitheater renovations and the Administration/Box Office facilities. The night will conclude with Taste of the Fair and wine tasting, and choice of entertainment.

Staff Changes at Western Fairs Association
Carrie Wright, WFA marketing director, was appointed programs manager for the California Exposition & State Fair by Governor Jerry Brown. She started her appointment April 8. "We are excited to see Carrie making this transition," says WFA President Kent Hojem. "Her experience, passion and talent will be great assets for the California State Fair."
Moving Forward Western Fairs Association is currently discussing association needs and will move forward with a replacement plan in June. In the meantime, staff members will assume various roles previously handled by the marketing director. Contact the following staff members for your needs:

New California Ag Magazine Launches
The AG Mag, an innovative four-color magazine, a useful tool to producers, a showcase for ag with a unique flair. A quarterly magazine that incorporates insightful content with human interest and out-of-the-box ideas of value to ag readers throughout the West.
Regular features include Talkin' Tradition, a personal account of a heritage ranch; The Next Generation, focusing on young ranchers and farmers; The Low Down, in-depth useful information for producers striving to keep pace in the every-changing ag world; and The State of the Fairs, a regular feature on fairs in the West.
The April issue of the AG Mag includes a comprehensive article on fairs which includes quotes by WFA Executive Director Stephen Chambers and fair managers from Modoc to San Diego. Chambers speaks to the changing role of the fairs in relation to their communities, not only in California, where funding has been severely cut, but throughout the Western states.
