As an angel foretold, Elizabeth is now six months pregnant carrying the soon to be John the Baptist, and her relative Mary carries Jesus, foretold to be the Son of God, in her womb. Today we hear the meeting of these two women which is one of joy and significance. Their thoughts and feelings are crystallized in Elizabeth's benediction and Mary's hymn of praise.
