International Partnership Task Force requests information from Maine congregations: Asks, "Where should we go from here?"
With the second five-year term of the Haiti-Maine Companion Diocese relationship coming to an end at the 2012 Diocesan Convention, Bishop Steve Lane called for a group to gather in 2013 to look at how, moving forward, congregations can be involved in God's mission around the world.
The Bishop's charge to the International Partnership Task Force calls on us to ask congregations how they have been active in international ministry in the past, in Haiti or elsewhere, and how they might feel called to be involved in the future. Based on your responses and our research, the Task Force will make recommendations to Diocesan Convention in October.
We welcome responses from any member of a Maine congregation. Completed surveys from people across Maine will greatly help us as we seek to complete this work. The survey will close by June 30, so please take a few minutes to complete this short, 10-question survey at www.surveymonkey.com/s/internationalpartnerships
As it was in the beginning...or at least since the early 1970s
Beginning July 5 the diocesan office in Portland will move to its summer schedule of closing at noon each Friday through August 30.
Canon Wiederkehr on sabbatical this summer
Vicki Wiederkehr, the Canon for Formation and Transition Ministry, will be on sabbatical beginning June 15 through September 15. She writes:
"While I'm away, please be in touch with the Bishop's office, and I'm sure you'll be steered in the right direction. For any matters that can wait until I return in mid-September, I'd ask that you make a note to yourself to email me on or after September 15.
In the meantime, please don't hesitate to be in touch with me between now and June 15 if you have any questions or want to get something on our calendars for the fall." She may be reached at vwiederk@episcopalmaine.org or 772-1953 x123. All things Convention
