Own A Piece of Tucson History!

Party in the parking lot at Access Tucson Community Media! Own a piece of Tucson History-terrazzo tiles laid down in 1947 for the old downtown VFW building were headed for the dump, but have been saved.

2' x 2' tiles (70-80 pounds each) only $20.

September 14th, (2nd Saturday) 6pm-9pm.

Originally this building was built for VFW Tucson Post 549, the largest VFW post in Arizona. This chapter was originally chartered as "Joe C. Salazar Post 549" on January 3, 1921 and was the third VFW post chartered in Arizona. Tucson Post 549 moved in to its "new" location at 124 E. Broadway on May 30th, 1948--complete with glossy Terrazzo tiles for the flooring indoors as well as for the front sidewalk.

Now this beautiful building, full of memories, is the home of Access Tucson Community Media and the City Channel, Tucson 12.

It's been adapted for television production and distribution. But the glamour of the original building lives on through the ballroom floor, dumbwaiters and a once upon a time grand staircase.
