Medical Association Leaders Meet at Capitol Steps
|
(from left to right) Dr. Robbins, Dr. Tanner and Dr. Ramirez meet on the Capitol steps to commemorate the first time a woman had occupied the role of president at all three associations.
|
The Michigan Osteopathic Association (MOA) is proud to have had Myral Robbins, D.O.,FAAFP, FACOFP as president over the past year. Dr. Robbins has been an integral part of the policy development in different leadership positions and serves currently as the immediate past-president to the MOA Board of Trustees. In the association world, Dr. Robbins' presidency was accompanied by other leaders working to improve Michigan's medical policies.
Dr. Rose Ramirez, President of the Michigan State Medical Society, and Dr. Tina Tanner, President of the Michigan Academy of Family Physicians are also looking to make change in Michigan.
The three organizations are strategically aligned in shaping healthcare policies and providing leadership on the legislative efforts on behalf of their physicians and the communities they serve. In 2015, this alliance is more important than ever.
"We have big issues in front of us-scope of practice, protecting auto no fault, graduate medical education and loan repayment," Robbins said.
While these three women have provided leadership in their respective associations, they hope the next generation of physicians will follow in their footsteps.
"The emerging generation of new physicians, I'm in awe of everything they've accomplished," Robbins said. "If I could impact their decision to be a part of leadership, that would be my proudest accomplishment."

The Michigan Osteopathic Association (MOA) Fourth Annual Autumn Scientific Research Exhibit (SRE) competition will be held November 7, 2015 and in conjunction with the MOA 11th Annual Autumn Scientific Convention at the Amway Grand Plaza in Grand Rapids November 6-8.

Every year, MOA hosts two SRE competitions at both the Spring and Autumn Scientific Conventions. These competitions provide osteopathic medical students, residents, fellows and attending-level physicians an opportunity to present their medical and scientific research to our profession. MOA's Social Media Reach Keeps Growing
The Michigan Osteopathic Association (MOA) relies on various communication sources to keep connected to our members and their communities. We have recently revised our website (mi-osteopathic.org) to display our latest Tweets on Twitter. There is no need for a Twitter account and it's a good way to keep up on the issues we are covering with DO's, our partner organizations and the over 1,100 followers of @MichiganDOs.
