Ephesians 4:29 International Children's Bible (ICB)

When you talk, do not say harmful things. But say what people need-words that will help others become stronger. Then what you say will help those who listen to you.

Many times this past week while roaming the halls at Baptist Hospital in Lexington, KY I walked down a large hallway/lobby that was being renovated and had the tile removed. The words "PAVE THE PATH" were written with sharpie on the concrete flooring (soon to be covered with tile). These words led others to use their own sharpies and write their names, their newborn's name, people who were in the hospital, a bible verse or just simply "Bless all who are here." What a wonderful idea and it was ALL positive "graffiti."  I looked many times to find a space where I would be able to take a picture and include it, but there were always names attached and I did not feel comfortable sharing without permission even though they wrote it for all to see. Whenever the tile is placed over the words, the words are still there, they have left an imprint on our earth. Too often (I know I am guilty of this) we let words come out of our mouths that may be hurtful or said in anger and you cannot take them back - they have left an imprint on someone's heart. It may just be a passing comment or a glib remark and not intentional but once they are said they are said. So during your day today think before you speak and "PAVE THE PATH" to a better imprint to your conversational companion (husband, child, friend, neighbor, etc) and just maybe a bible verse would better pave your way?

  RLC YOUTH NEWS

Congratulations, Ben Scheel!
Ben has been selected to serve on the synod-wide youth planning committee for Lost and Found!  Way to go, Ben!

Important Dates

September 6 - Prayer for Confirmands - During the service, incoming confirmands will be asked to join the Council at the altar for prayer and presentation of Lutheran Bibles to assist them during confirmation.
September 13 - Stop Hunger Now - Following the 11:00 service volunteers will gather for a light lunch and then pack more than 10,000 meals!  So far, 17 youth and parents have signed up to help.  If you have not already done so, please go to events.stophungernow.org/resurrection2015 to register as a volunteer.  It is not too late to sign up!  The project should take about 2 hours.
Also on Sept. 13 - Bible Study for High School Youth with Spike Roberts begins at 9:45am.  For now the group will meet in the Choir Room next to the Youth Room.

2015 Fall Bazaar - Sept 19 - 9am/3pm - Urgent!
Our help is needed in two areas:
Bake Sale - Items will be donated by Congregation members (including youth and parents) and sold during the Bazaar.  Baked goods, such as loaves of sweet bread, can be bagged whole or by slices.  Other items should be cut and bagged in small amounts (i.e., 2 brownies, 4 cookies).  All can be brought to the church ahead of time.  Two shifts of 2 volunteers each are needed:  8am - 12n (assist with set up of items on tables) and 12n - 4pm (assist with clean up of our area).  Please TEXT or EMAIL me ASAP if you are available/willing to help.  Younger youth will need to be accompanied by a parent because of the money exchange.

Blessings,
