Dear Resurrection People,
We have lots of good news to share these days at RLC. We are including below just 3 good news items to share with you now:
Meet Lisa Glatz
We have a new staff member at Resurrection! Lisa Glatz officially starts this Monday, October 20, as our Church Secretary. Lisa will work 4 days per week (Tuesday through Friday) and Donna Roberts will continue to work on Mondays.
Lisa and her husband and 4 children live in Fredericksburg and are members of Riverside Church. Most recently she has been a Substitute Teacher for Spotsylvania County Schools. She majored in Psychology and graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Maryland.
We give thanks to the members of our Personnel Team for their thorough work in publicizing and interviewing candidates for our church secretary position. We received about 30 resumes and scheduled 11 personal interviews. Lisa's warm personality, strong Christian faith, education and experience are key factors in her selection.
Community Health Fair
Please come to Resurrection's Community Health Fair this Saturday, October 18. The time is 9 am to 1 pm. Our encouragement to all RLC members is to "show Christian Hospitality to all who participate at the Fair, especially the Health Care Professionals who are donating their time and expertise." Please identify yourself to the folks you meet and give them your personal thanks for being at the Community Health Fair. How about wearing your gold RLC tee-shirt and/or wear your RLC name badge? Many thanks in advance to all from Resurrection who are putting in so much time and talent to make our 8th annual health fair so successful. We give special thanks to Eileen Clawson for being our coordinator for the second year!
Grief Forum on Divorce and Impact on Families
Please join us this Sunday, October 19, at the 8:45 Adult Forum. Our presenters this week are Pastor Jim and Dianne Bachmann. Dianne's presentation will focus on the different ways that adults and children experience divorce and how they express grief. She will help us see healthy ways to deal with such experiences. Dianne is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and works with The Center for Family Counseling in Fredericksburg. She and her husband are members of St. George Episcopal Church. Pastor Jim's presentation will focus on divorce and remarriage questions from the perspective of Scripture, the ELCA and Resurrection.
We look forward to seeing you at worship and at the wonderful outreach opportunities that will take place over the coming weeks (Reformation/Trunk or Treat/Oktoberfest/Thanksgiving Meal).
May God bless your coming in and your going out, now and forevermore!
Pastors Jim and Carol
