 A Message from Christian Eduction...
I hope that you all are having a great summer. It is time to start planning for Sunday School. The Christian Education committee has decided to try a different approach for Sunday School this year. We will continue to use the Spark curriculum but will using a rotation approach. The children will be divided into three groups:
1) ages 2-4 
2) lower elementary school K - 2nd grade
3) upper elementary school 3-5th grade
The first group of kids will remain in the same classroom each week and cover aspects of the story covered by the older kids. The older kids will also study the same story but will rotate through different means of learning the story. The different workshops could be Art, Bible Study and Games, Cooking, Science, Music, Drama.
The Christian Education committee is looking for people interested in serving in teaching our young people this year. You would not have to commit to every Sunday. You could choose to do one of the above mentioned workshops and would only need to commit for one or two Sundays a month.
If you are interested in serving, please contact Kelli Slunt and/or consider attending our next committee meeting on August 20th at 7 pm.

A Message from our Confirmation Faculty...
Confirmation classes begin on Sunday September 15th at 9:45 AM in the Sanctuary for all those in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. If you were in confirmation class last year, we're looking forward to spending time with you again! If you are joining us for the first time this year (all 6th graders and any new 7th or 8th graders), please send an e-mail to Eric@ResurrectionPeople.org or talk to any of us before or after worship so we know who to expect.
Our faculty this year includes:
- 6th Grade: Kelli Slunt
- 7th Grade: David Fronk
- 8th Grade: Eric Carlson
- Substitute (all grades): Denise Guest
We'll send out an e-mail; in a couple weeks to all those signed up for confirmation.
For those in the 8th grade... Pentecost is on June 8th 2014 -- that's the day you will affirm your baptism! |
A Message from our Malaria Team...
So far in 2013 we have raised $4,000 of our $4,500 annual goal! Thanks so much to  everyone who has given so generously to help fight against malaria. Since 2009 and the start of the ELCA Malaria Campaign, the childhood mortality rate in Africa has been cut in half! Still a child dies every minute from this completely preventable disease.

We can easily reach our goal of $4,500 this year. Please make a gift to the ELCA malaria campaign by placing a designated gift in the offering plate or giving on-line at the Virginia Synod site.
