"Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.  No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. We know that we live in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world."

Greetings!

Next week begins the season of Lent.  Ash Wednesday services are very meaningful as we remember that we are dust, and to dust we shall return, yet we remember that we have all been marked with the cross of Christ...forever!

We are called through Lent to spend the next 40 days turning our hearts toward God, confessing our sins as we journey with Jesus to the cross, and then rejoicing with him on the Day of Resurrection!
Here is where we are in our studies:

+  Luther's Small Catechism - Pastor Carol has gone over the Ten Commandments and the Apostles' Creed with all confirmands.  Next up will be the Lord's Prayer.

+  8th Grade will finish their studies of the New Testament with meditative readings from the Revelation of Jesus Christ this Sunday Feb 10th.  Next Sunday we begin a four part series viewing the film Luther.

+  7th Grade has just finished their viewing and listening to The Gospel According to Saint John.  This Sunday they start comparing the synoptics to the Christology found in John.

+  6th Grade has completed the Old Testament up to the Books of Samuel and will now begin their studies of the major prophets (Nevi'im) and writings (Ketuvim).
We hope you and your families will take time during Lent to reflect on your life and your relationship with Jesus.  Since Lent lasts 40 days -- the same time that Jesus spent in the Wilderness fasting and praying -- we hope you will each build your own lenten disciplines.  Lenten disciplines may involve  praying more, or reading the Bible more, or giving up something you like, or eating less, or taking on a new commitment in your walk with Jesus.  Please pray about what you will do, how that will help you grow in relationship to Jesus, and how through walking with Jesus you can help bear witness and service for the sake of the world.

Remember our schedule and curriculum can be found on-line on the RLC Resources page.
