Message from the Directors

Dear Families,

As fall quickly approaches, we are in full swing and seeing exciting developments. Our school community has worked hard and learners are demonstrating great knowledge in the areas of social and emotional growth. Understanding why we do what we do, how to communicate with others, building stamina and grit, and embracing the 7 Habits are all integral parts of our program. Our focus on these concepts helps us guide our learners to be successful both in and outside the classroom.

During the upcoming months, we will have Parent University workshops. These one-hour sessions will provide information to help our families understand our core tenets on a deeper level and allow for any questions regarding our program. Our first Parent University class will be held 9 a.m. October 5 on the topic of Project-Based Learning. We encourage all of our families to attend this informative meeting as Project-Based Learning is the heart of our program. Please RSVP to Cristine Brown at the front lobby desk at the lower school or email at cristine.brown@scvi-k12.org.

We hope you have a fantastic week!

SCVi Families Needed to Host International Learners

SCVi Families, would you like to host an international learner for a week? Here's your chance! SCVi is once again hosting upper school learners from Universidad Tecmilenio in Mexico. This year, we will be welcoming them from October 23- 29 and need your help to host them! If you have an extra bed, and can transport them to and from SCVi each day, you can help!

For more information, and to answer any questions you may have, please email tim.alves@culturalbridges.global.
Community Gallery Featuring SCVi Learners - Last Month to View!

September is your last month to see SCVi's exhibit of artwork at the Valencia Town Center Gallery. Each quarter an individual or a group from the community fills the Town Center gallery for a three-month art show. SCVi work from learners in the lower grades up to high school has been on display since the end of June. Next time you are at the Town Center we hope you'll make a point of checking out the display.

Show your SCVi Spirit by cheering on our Sports Teams!

Check out the below schedule of games from Upper School Athletics Director Casey Blaszczyk.  Go to the games and cheer on our ladies Volleyball team and their coach Alan Kingsley.  (check back weekly for updates, as game schedules often change)

Brick Dedications Available for New Flag Courtyard

We hope you were able to attend the dedication ceremony of our beautiful new Flagpole Courtyard on Friday, September 9, in remembrance of Patriot Day. Our lower school learners are already enjoying the new space and especially love sitting, reading and playing on the grass.

We have received many positive comments and inquiries about buying bricks in the courtyard. Twelfth grader Adam Miller, who designed and built the courtyard, has offered to continue to sell bricks and coordinate an ongoing Brick Fundraiser for us to make our Flagpole Courtyard even better.

So, it's not too late to buy a brick! Consider buying a brick and express yourself! Feel free to be creative! And remember you can buy a group brick with other individuals; you are not limited to buying as an individual or single family.

Click here for a copy of the order form for your convenience with contact information if you have questions. Order forms can also be found at the Lower and Upper School Administration Office Front Desks or above the designated wall payment box on the first floor of the Lower School across from the restrooms and near the entrance to the Flagpole Courtyard.

We look forward to raising the new flags every day and hope you'll be able to join us for our various flag ceremonies throughout the year.
