Green Team's Greenway 5K, August 16, 2015
REGISTRATION AND COUCH TO 5K TRAINING PROGRAM NOW OPEN
The Greenway 5k (GW5K) is an annual event hosted by Groundwork Lawrence's Green Team to promote health, fitness and open spaces. This event aims to support members of the community in their efforts to lead healthier lifestyles and encourage walking and running on our 3.5 mile Spicket River Greenway. The GW5K course provides runners with an opportunity to take in some of the best views the City of Lawrence has to offer.

Our Couch to 5k training group is great for beginners or anyone wanting to set goals and track their progress. Whether it's learning the basics, cutting your previous time, or sneaking in some exercise throughout the day, we invite you to come walk, jog, or run with us!

Tuesdays and Thursdays 12-1 PM

Meet at 60 Island Street, the first floor

(near the Bell Tower Café and Qniversity)

Couch to 5K begins July 7 and goes until August 13

And just to say thank you for attending the training program, every week we will be giving away free fresh produce from our community garden, a nutritious boost to help fuel your training!

If you have any questions or to sign up, please email run@groundworklawrence.org or visit groundworklawrence.org/Greenway5K

ALL 3 GROUNDWORK FARMERS MARKET OPEN BETWEEN LAWRENCE AND METHUEN
The Groundwork Farmers Markets feature a wide variety of local produce, as well as local crafts. Recap: Splash Park at the Point
GROUNDBREAKING

Groundwork Lawrence is pleased to support one of the City's newest park projects, the Splash Park at the Point, located next to Lawrence CommunityWorks' Our House Campus, where a triangular lot has been formed by the intersection of Newbury and East Haverhill Streets. Similar to what one would see on the Rose Kennedy Greenway in Boston, the park will feature a flat, walking surface with water jets that project water at seemingly random intervals. The new community asset will further complement the series of parks along the City's Spicket River Greenway.

In addition to the state and local CDBG funding for the project, the City will also benefit from new sidewalks around the park via state Chapter 90 funds.

Pictured below at the Groundbreaking are Senator L'Italien, State Representative Marcos Devers, Speaker of the House Robert DeLeo, Lawrence Mayor Dan Rivera, State Representative Frank Moran, and State Representative Diana DiZoglio.

Recap: Kane Site Community Meeting
FORMER SCHOOL SITE TO BE TRANSFORMED INTO SOCCER FIELDS AND MORE
The long neglected 3.29 acre field known as the former Kane School Gym Site will break ground for construction in August 2015. The field will be transformed into a full size rectangular sports field that can be utilized for soccer and other activities. The recreational complex will also have a walking path one third of a mile long that will provide residents with a safe place to walk with friends and neighbors.

Community members attended the City's meeting in June to review the park's preliminary design, ask questions, and contribute to the design process. Groundwork Lawrence is excited to be supporting this new project!
