Post-Kiddush Learning
Looking Into the Torah Scroll: Reading the Torah and Rabbinic Authority After Kiddush A Midrashic response to the tradition of the vocalization of the Torah.
Rabbi Zacharia was brought up in the ultra-Orthodox community of Brooklyn. Her Jewish journey has been broad and diverse allowing her teaching to be open, welcoming and engaging. A member of the first class at the Ziegler School for Rabbinic Studies in Los Angeles, her rabbinate brought her to Boston, Los Angeles and New York City. Rabbi Zacharia initiated a women's monthly study group "Isha L'isha: It's a Women Thing;" and is the founder, creator and facilitator of the Brooklyn pop-up art bet midrash. Her love of teaching Torah permeates all she does. Her facility with Jewish text is deeply engaging, inspiring and relevant. She has developed and teaches Jewish mindfulness through study, meditation, prayer and eating practices. She posts a weekly Torah tweet on the Torah portion and Jewish themes on twitter: @rebzee99.

Post-Kiddush Learning:
Social Justice
Saturday, April 9 After Kiddush
The Social Justice Committee will present the third event in Criminal Justice Reform 101 on April 9th, after Kiddush. The topic will be Problem Solving Courts in Ramsey County. Our speaker will be the Honorable Judith Tilsen, Ramsey County District Judge. Judge Tilsen will be introduced by Elizabeth Lamin. These special courts provide a way to deal with offenders apart from the normal criminal justice system and point to a way of diminishing the mass incarceration that is so damaging to the social fabric, especially among people of color.
