* This is a joke. Blair Walsh is not, as far as we know, Jewish, nor will he be attending (again, as far as we know) the World Wide Wrap, although he is, of course, welcome. |
Post-Kiddush Learning
Criminal Justice 101
Criminal Justice Reform is becoming an important topic all across the nation, but especially in Minnesota. Why is that? You can find out next Shabbat, February 6, after Kiddush. Alonzo Emen, of Mad Dads of Minneapolis, an African American community organization, and Kari E. O'Leary, a defense attorney who works with the Mille Lacs Indian Nation will discuss what it's like to be caught in the criminal justice system in our state. Presented by the Beth Jacob Social Justice Committee and Jewish Community Action.

5776 is the Year of Torah (YoT) at Beth Jacob, a year-long celebration of Torah and community. There will be many events, the highlight of which will be the restoration of one of our Sifrei Torah. Everyone can participate in this hands-on restoration project, led by Beth Jacob Congregational Educator and Sofer D. Marcos Vital.
 Parasha Connection: February
For February's Year of Torah Parasha Connection, there will be a special edition of 'For the Jew in the Pew' with Rabbi Lynn Liberman featuring special guest Elizabeth "EB" Barnard. From 9:15 - 10 am, they will discuss "Parashat Terumah - Building the Tabernacle from wood: a woodworker's perspective!" Come study the weekly Parasha with an eye toward attempting to discern the craftsmanship and sacred work of Bezalel through the skills of a modern woodworker.
Torah Restoration:
February
For February's Torah Restoration Event D.Marcos will be doing Torah restoration work on Tuesday February 16 from 7-8:30 pm at Beth Jacob; come watch, and maybe even get a chance to help!
