Neilah/Break the Fast
See Yom Kippur all the way to the end; make sure to join us for the Neilah service! As the "gates" of Yom Kippur close, we join together as a community for this beautiful service. We will have a special children's program during Neilah, ending with all children joining on the Bima to blow shofar, marking the end of Yom Kippur.
Neilah will be followed by an outside havdalah (weather permitting) where every kid gets a havdalah candle to keep, and finishing with a light meal to break the fast here at Beth Jacob! Childcare will be available in the nursery.
Break the fast refreshments following the Yom Kippur Neilah service are provided courtesy of an endowment established by the Bernick family in memory of Bernice and Milton Bernick (z"l).

 Kever Avot/Visiting the Cemetery
Judaism has a tradition of visiting the graves of our loved ones particularly during Yom Noriam/High Holy Days/The Days of Awe. These visits offer time for prayer and reflection allowing one to honor the memory of loved ones. Our Cemetery will be open from 9 to 3 on Sunday, September 20. During those hours members from our Beth Jacob Community will be available to assist you in the reciting of the El Moleh Rahamin Prayer for your dear loved ones (the memorial prayer for the blessed departed). Please call Michael Keller to volunteer to assist in reciting the El Moleh Rahamin Prayer or if you have questions. Mike can be reached at 612-251-3977

Judaism in the 21st Century:
A Discussion Group
How do we understand and express our Judaism in the 21st Century? As Jews we find ourselves compelled to respond to the challenges of our ever-changing world, scientific discovery and increased awareness of the suffering in our world. Arthur Green says that these experiences create "challenges to conventional theological views." We will use Green's book Radical Judaism to explore these ideas together and create an open space in which to share new ideas. Contact Maxine Rosenthal for more information.
