Meet Your Muslim Neighbors
Tuesday, June 30, 8:30-10:30 pm
 Come meet your Muslim neighbors for a meal (iftar) and open conversation at the end of Ramadan!
Ramadan is the month of the Islamic lunar calendar during which Muslims abstain from food and drink from sunrise to sunset; this year it falls between the dates of June 18 - July 17. Fasting during Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam, and is performed to learn compassion, self-restraint, and generosity. As our Muslim neighbors prepare for this sacred month, we have been invited to the Muslim American Society in Inver Grove Heights. We are coordinating our visit from the St. Paul Jewish community together.

Study Group
7 pm Tuesdays: June 30, July 7, 14, & 21
No need to register, just come!
Come to one or all sessions.
 Learn how the Sephardim flourished in Spain for hundreds of years, culminating in the Golden Age and ending with the expulsion in 1492. Trace their history in a study group that will use podcasts created by Benjamin Gampel, professor at the Jewish Theological Seminary and a Beth Jacob scholar in residence. We'll watch the podcasts and discuss them. D. Marcos Vital and Penny Simison will facilitate the discussion.

Contemplative Chanting

Singing is a physical experience, involving breath and muscles, ears and mouths. When we are touched by the music, the whole of our bodies come into play. When we sing with others, we are connected by and within the music. In chanting, we sing a melody multiple time giving us time to enter the chant as its melody (and words) enter us, feeling ever more deeply the effect of the music in each repetition. Chanting is a form of meditation that opens the doors of the heart, it focuses attention on the present moment, the place where the Divine Presence can be experienced. Whether wordless or with words, repetition of the chant helps clear the mind of chatter, and connects us to each other and the Divine. Allowing some quiet between the chants or niggunim enables us to absorb the energy of the chant.
Join us on Thursday evenings as we ready our hearts for Shabbat. No experience or prior knowledge is required. Co-sponsored with Hineini, A Center for Adult Jewish Learning and Contemplative Practices at the Talmud Torah of St. Paul. There is no set cost for these sessions, though donations will be accepted.

Study the words and thoughts of Rabbinic tradition as a living text in our modern world. Monday Night Talmud will be on summer hiatus after the class on Monday, June 15.  Parashat HaShavuah: Tuesday Afternoons With Rabbi Allen from 3-4 pm Study of this week's Torah portion.
 Bracha and Bagel: Wednesday Mornings With David Rischall after Minyan Our learning chug (circle) meets for half an hour over breakfast, digging into rabbinic text related to the cycle of the Jewish year.
Jew in the Pew: Saturday Mornings 
With Rabbi Lynn Liberman - 9:15-10 am
Join Rabbi Lynn Liberman to discuss the weekly Torah portion through the lens of thought-provoking commentaries.
Jew in the Pew is on hiatus, and will resume in August as below.

J-Pride
Sunday, June 28th
.jpeg?itok=szmIbmNV) J-Pride is celebrating their 10th year participating in the Pride Festival! This year, the Pride Festival is on Sunday, June 28th, and you can volunteer with J-Pride either by being in the parade or at the J-Pride booth.
They are at Booth # P086, and there are one hour shifts available during the following times: 10:30-11:30 am, 12:30-1:30 pm, 1:30-2:30 pm, 2:30-3:30 pm, 3:30-4:30 pm, and 4:30-5:30 pm Up to 4 people can volunteer for each shift.
Parade: The parade begins at 11:00 am and there is no limit to how many people can participate. The Parade route starts at 3rd and Hennepin and ends at Spruce and Hennepin.
