This year, Selichot at Beth Jacob will feature a performance by Dylan Fresco. Dylan is a dynamic, talented performer, and this event is not to be missed!

Welcoming The Stranger is a 30 minute solo performance weaving together true stories of refugees, family and faith. Originally commissioned by Rimon: The Minnesota Jewish Arts Council, Dylan has been sharing this memoir piece with diverse audiences since 2011. Following the performance, Dylan will lead a facilitated reflection and conversation.

   

Following a reception, Rabbi Amy Eilberg will daven Selichot.

Join the Beth Jacob Cinema Chavurah for a showing of 'The Green Prince'; they will meet up at the Edina cinema for the 7-something show.

 

Geoff Marshall and Laurie Radovsky invite everyone to join them  for a pot luck (vegetarian) picnic at Hidden Falls Park (North Entrance, just north of Magoffin Avenue, south of the Ford Plant). Everyone is welcome for a relaxed Rosh Hashanah lunch and another opportunity to do tashlich by the Mississippi River. Meet at the park after services and kiddush- around 2-4:30 pm. 

 

On Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur, our daily and weekly liturgy is expanded to include the themes of the days; This year, our shlichei tzibur gathered to choose some musical motifs that they will use throughout these Days of Awe, beginning with Selichot and continuing through Yom Kippur.

This year at Beth Jacob we are asking kids to make cards, letters, pictures, etc., at home to bring here on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur to give to the police officers who are outside. We will be delivering them in groups during children's programming.

 

Judaism has a tradition of visiting the graves of our loved ones, particularly during Yom Noriam/High Holy Days/The Days of Awe. These visits offer time for prayer and reflection allowing one to honor the memory of loved ones. Our Cemetery will be open from 9 to 3 on Sunday, September 28, and Sunday, October 5. During those hours members from our Beth Jacob Community will be available to assist you in the reciting of the El Moleh Rahamin Prayer for your dear loved ones(the memorial prayer for the blessed departed).

Enjoy the Fall weather with St. Paul Federation Young Leadership and Beth Jacob!

 

Get lost in the corn maze, pick out a pumpkin, take a hayride, drink some hot apple cider, and bring home a bag of crisp and juicy apples. 

 

From 2-4 p.m. Young Leadership will have a table set up inside the orchard with free cider, apples, and other apple treats to share.  We will raffle a few prizes at 3 pm.  Look for the Jewish Federation of Greater St. Paul sign. 

 

Admission $3 for adults and $2 for children under 4.
