Betty and Bud Sweet Social Hall Dedication
  Saturday, August 31

Beth Jacob Congregation will be dedicating its social hall in honor of Betty and Bud (z"l) Sweet at Shabbat morning services on August 31.  We invite the community to join us as we celebrate the commitment and energy this family has brought to our shul and our community as a whole.

Betty and Bud Sweet were founding members of Beth Jacob and have always been integral to our congregational community.  Bud Sweet was a President of the congregation, and was very involved in fundraising, and Betty has been involved in fundraising, volunteering, and sharing her love of the Beth Jacob community since the shul got its start.  Many years ago, the Sweets created an endowment fund to help sustain the shul kitchen, which provides us with the foods for so many of the events we share as a community: Kiddushim, and dinners, and receptions, and so much more that has brought us closer as a shul. We are honored by their commitment to Beth Jacob, so we are doubly delighted to dedicate the Betty and Bud Sweet Social Hall.

Writing the Year
Shane Noecker will lead us in a reflective writing
seminar. We will engage with a significant event from the past year and set out our intentions for the year ahead. In small groups, we will share our stories and then use them
to reflect as we head into the reflective period of the Days of Awe. No writing experience necessary. Bring some paper and a favorite pen.

Selichot Service
Following the workshop, Darla Kashian will play Max Bruch's "Kol Nidre" on the viola as a transition to the Selichot service. Selichot will be chanted by Rabbi Amy Eilberg.
