Putting Food on the Tables of Those Who Put Food on Our Tables
The Beth Jacob Congregation Social Justice Committee invites you to join us in making sure that those who work to feed us have enough to feed themselves. We are launching a pilot initiative to bring fresh produce to the tables of migrant worker families who come to southeastern Minnesota in the summer to work on our farms. In Le Center, the children of these families have access to a six-week summer school session. During that session we will provide each family with a half-share of the weekly allocation of produce from My Minnesota Farmer's CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) farm.
The children represent approximately thirty families, and we can provide each family with this nutritious food for $100. Please contribute what you can toward the $3000 we need for the program, which we are calling the "Ruth Fund" in honor of Shavuot. Help show our appreciation for all the hard work that puts food on our tables.
Checks should be payable to the Rabbi's Discretionary Fund, and have "Ruth Fund" in the memo, and may be dropped off at or mailed in to: Beth Jacob 1179 Victoria Curve Mendota Heights, MN 55118 |

Learn how Paul Newman's vision for seriously ill children was realized in Israel
An Evening with Dani Steiner, Jordan River Village Camp Director
7:30-9:00 PM
Shaller Family Sholom East Campus
740 Kay Avenue, St. Paul
|
Jordan River Village enriches the lives of Jewish and Arab children suffering from serious illnesses by creating free, fun-filled, empowering, medically sound and safe camping experiences.
Paul Newman started it all in 1988 with the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, now known as SeriousFun Children's Network. The Jordan River Village, located on secluded, beautiful land high above the Sea of Galilee, is a proud member of this network.
Dani Steiner, camp director, will talk about how the dream of creating the Jordan River Village became a reality and how the camp serves children from Israel, the West Bank, Gaza and surrounding countries.
Please join us for a fascinating discussion and refreshments. RSVP to Dan Mogelson at dmogelson@stpaulfed.org or 651-695-3189 by Wed., June 12.
|
The Jordan River Village Camp is located in St. Paul's Partnership 2Gether region. Through our partnership, we support the camp with funding, a project on-site, and delegation visits.
