Dinner will be followed by Ma'ariv and the start of our Tikkun Shavuot.

Shabbat Morning, May 18
 A day of celebration of all our learners over this past year, children through adults. We will be celebrating our Minyan Katan families, Shabbat Enrichment children and parents, all of our students who have attended TTSP, HMJDS, our own Kadima and USYERS, all our Midrasha Students and all our adults who have taken classes of Jewish learning this past year. 
Special guest that morning: story teller Carla Vogel. Services begin as usual at 9:00 AM with our special celebration to begin at the Torah service.

Storybook or Legal Code?
The Rabbis Read the Book of Genesis
 Jane Kanarek is Assistant Professor of Rabbinics and Associate Dean of Academic Development and
Advising at the Rabbinical School of Hebrew College. She received her rabbinic ordination from the Jewish
Theological Seminary and her Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. Dr. Kanarek is a member of the
Committee on Jewish Law and Standards and is a contributor to The Observant Life: The Wisdom of
Conservative Judaism for Conservative Jews. She was the head of the Kollel and Beit Midrash at Ramah
Wisconsin, an intensive Talmud program for college-age students and campers.
Sessions will include:

Help the Jewish Community Plan for the Future
Attend a Listening Session and tell us what you think.
 The Greater St. Paul Jewish community is conducting a Community Planning Process to understand and address our community's needs over the next 10 to 20 years. Between May and June, we are conducting Listening Sessions throughout the community to learn about what you value in our community and your concerns.  Listening Session at Beth Jacob Congregation: Sunday, June 16, 10 a.m. to noon. To sign up for this session or other dates, and to learn more about Community Planning, click here. Dakota Sites Tour
Sunday, May 19 at 10:00 a.m.
 Meet at the shul and we will form car pools to drive to some local sites that are of historic importance to our Native American brethren. We will be guided by a member of the Dakota or another tribe.
Bring a snack and some water, if you think you need it. The tour will take about 3 hours. Sites will include Pilot Knob, Coldwater Creek, and Fort Snelling. |
