 A day of celebration of all our learners over this past year, children through adults. We will be celebrating our Minyan Katan families, Shabbat Enrichment children and parents, all of our students who have attended TTSP, HMJDS, our own Kadima and USYERS, all our Midrasha Students and all our adults who have taken classes of Jewish learning this past year. 
Special guest that morning: story teller Carla Vogel. Services begin as usual at 9:00 AM with our special celebration to begin at the Torah service.

The Rabbis Read the Book of Genesis
Jane Kanarek is Assistant Professor of Rabbinics and Associate Dean of Academic Development and Advising at the Rabbinical School of Hebrew College. She received her rabbinic ordination from the Jewish Theological Seminary and her Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. Dr. Kanarek is a member of the Committee on Jewish Law and Standards and is a contributor to The Observant Life: The Wisdom of Conservative Judaism for Conservative Jews. She was the head of the Kollel and Beit Midrash at Ramah Wisconsin, an intensive Talmud program for college-age students and campers.

Between May and June, we are conducting Listening Sessions throughout the community to learn about what you value in our community and your concerns. Becoming Frum:
How Newcomers Learn the Language and Culture of Orthodox Judaism

Cost: Free
This talk demonstrates how there is more to becoming Orthodox than observing religious laws. Newly Orthodox Jews, or ba'alei teshuva (lit. 'those who return'), encounter a very different culture, including new ways of talking, dressing, and acting. Focusing on the Yiddish- and Hebrew-influenced English speech of Orthodox Jews, this lecture explores how "BTs" integrate into the community partly by taking on these new practices.

Sarah Bunin Benor is Associate Professor of Contemporary Jewish Studies at Hebrew Union College - Jewish Institute of Religion (Los Angeles campus) and Adjunct Associate Professor in the University of Southern California Linguistics Department. She received her Ph.D. from Stanford University in Linguistics in 2004. She is the author of
