Lobbying the Legislature for Social Justice
After Kiddush on March 23, the Social Justice Committee will present a workshop on lobbying your legislator on social justice issues. The session will provide information on how to be most effective when you contact your representatives, including how to prepare and "Dos" and "Don'ts" about the visit, phone call, or e-mail. In addition we will provide talking points on the important topics of foreclosure, gun control, and immigration, since bills concerning each of these issues are currently before the legislature.
This legislature is much more interested in social justice than those of the last four years, and with a Governor who is also supportive, we have a window of opportunity this year to enact some legislation important to Minnesota. Each legislator needs to feel that her or his constituents support these bills, and the way to show that is by expressing your position in an informed way.

Gun Violence Prevention Shabbat
Shabbat Morning, March 30th
Sami Rahamim, a Minneapolis Jewish teen who lost his father to gun violence this past fall, will be speaking during services at Beth Jacob, and then engaging our 9-12th grade USYers in a discussion afterwards.
Along with the National Cathedral and hundreds of congregations across the country, we will dedicate our service this week to lamenting those who have been lost and praying that our elected leaders will move urgently to reduce gun violence here at home and across America. Please join us for this special service.
