Thank the Obama Administration for Standing with Israel
From the Jewish Council on Public Affiars:
We salute the Obama administration for its unequivocal position in opposing yesterday's UN General Assembly decision to elevate the Palestinians' status to non-member observer state. We appreciate the President's extensive diplomatic efforts, unfortunately not successful, to dissuade Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas from pursuing this route. Below you will find a link to the statement from Ambassador Susan Rice, who spoke powerfully and eloquently yesterday in the UNGA session. Secretary of State Clinton also spoke out against the vote, calling it " unfortunate and counterproductive."
While we were disappointed that more European states failed to vote against the resolution, a large number of countries abstained (41), thus, denying it the kind of full consensus authority Mahmoud Abbas sought. The administration's diplomacy in recent days and weeks significantly contributed to this outcome. You are encouraged to communicate appreciation to President Obama, Secretary Clinton, and Ambassador Rice for their efforts on this issue. As we approach Shabbat, we pray that, instead of unilateral end runs at the UN, Palestinian leadership will realize that the two-state vision can only be realized in negotiations with Israel - and that day will come soon.
Shabbat Shalom, Larry Gold, JCPA Chair Rabbi Steve Gutow, JCPA President Martin Raffel, Senior Vice-president

The Social Justice Committee Wants You!
The Beth Jacob Social Justice Committee is looking for a small group of people who are passionate about social justice, but don't have the time or inclination to plan events and programs. We hope to have a minyan or more upon whom we can call when we need to mobilize helpers to attend an event, make a few phone calls, help decide the direction in which the committee should go, or just provide support for our work. To join this social justice auxiliary, please phone or e-mail either:
