The Beth Jacob Social Justice Committee is looking for a small group of people who are passionate about social justice, but don't have the time or inclination to plan events and programs. We hope to have a minyan or more upon whom we can call when we need to mobilize helpers to attend an event, make a few phone calls, help decide the direction in which the committee should go, or just provide support for our work. To join this social justice auxiliary, please phone or e-mail either:
The Social Justice Committee is assembling a Beth Jacob Congregation team to join the Walk to End Hunger at the Mall of America on Thanksgiving morning. We are hoping to field a team of at least 36 walkers. Registration is only $25, but a fundraising goal of $100 per participant is requested. Please join the Beth Jacob team when you register for the walk!
This course examines classical Jewish texts on the art of everyday peacemaking. Based on materials developed by the Pardes Institute: Conflict Resolution Institute, we will study fascinating, little-known texts on the pursuit of peace- exploring what it means for each of us to be a "Rodef Shalom" (a pursuer of peace) in our own lives.
