Jay Michaelson to Speak
This Shabbat, October 20
After Kiddush (1:00)
Jay Michaelson, scholar, writer, lawyer, commentator and author of the 2011 book, God vs. Gay? The Religious Case for Equality, will be sharing his insights with us in an after Kiddush talk on Shabbat, October 20. He will speak from his knowledge of our texts and history about why people of faith in general, and specifically we as Jews need to oppose the Marriage Amendment, giving us language and strategies for our conversations.
As always, childcare is available for post-kiddush learning,
no reservations required.

This course examines classical Jewish texts on the art of everyday peacemaking. Based on materials developed by the Pardes Institute: Conflict Resolution Institute, we will study fascinating, little-known texts on the pursuit of peace- exploring what it means for each of us to be a "Rodef Shalom" (a pursuer of peace) in our own lives. For more information, contact Rabbi Amy Eilberg at rebamy@eilberg.com. |
