San Diego Floral Association presents
'Cultivating Identity' Saturday, October 3


On Saturday October 3, our good friends at the San Diego Floral Association are hosting a one day conference to discover new ways to think about San Diego's treasured urban park.  Local and national experts will examine Balboa Park, its past and ongoing vitality.  Featured speakers to include Elizabeth Barlow Rogers of the Central Park Conservancy.  Presentations are scheduled from 10 am to 3:30 pm at the Museum of Photographic Arts Theater with walking tours of the buildings and gardens of the 1915 Exposition following the program. Seating is limited and the event will cost $25 for non SD Floral Association members.

San Diego Maker Faire (SDMF) is the Signature Fall Centennial Event.  It will be a bi-national festival of invention, creativity and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the burgeoning Maker movement in San Diego.  Part science fair, part county fair, and part something entirely new, Maker Faire is an all-ages gathering of tech enthusiasts, crafters, educators, tinkerers, hobbyists, engineers, science clubs, authors, artists, students, and commercial exhibitors. Tickets are $20 for one day and $30 for two days for adults (children are less) and include entrance to Maker Faire exhibits and general admission to ten participating museums in Balboa Park.

Taste of Asia - International Cottages Sept. 26 & 27

Come enjoy Chinese, Indian, Filipino and Korean food at this two day event at the International Cottages in Balboa Park from noon - 5PM Saturday and Sunday, September 26 & 27. The event also features dance, music, arts and crafts of the host cottages:  Houses of China, India, Korea & Philippines.  Special guests from Xiamen University in China come Sunday to entertain and Chef Jimmy Chen will be doing a cooking demo.
