San Diego History Center has been hosting the  Centennial Lecture Series and we encourage all to attend. The August lecture - A World Divided / A City United:  Military Presence at the Exposition features Bruce Linden, Executive Director, Coronado Historical Association. The fee for non museum members is $12 and advance reservations are required.

This is the Grand Finale of the Summer Centennial Music Series which Friends of Balboa Park has helped sponsor. The audience can expect a great night of plain, old-fashioned entertainment. Think songs new and ancient, close harmonies, and storytelling, all amplified around the use of a single mic, just like music from the bad ol' days of folk.  Mr. Gregory Page, a very talented song and dance man himself, will bring an evening in the variety show format with San Diego's folk music mainstays Lou and Virginia Curtiss will unearth some of the great songs of yesteryear and for the Centennial Celebration share memories of Balboa Park when it first opened. American actor and singer John C. Reilly will be there, North Dakota singer-songwirter Tom Brosseau, and special surprise guests. The evening will sure not to be missed! Doors open at 7:00 pm.
