Making Music Day San Diego - Sunday, June 21
On June 21, 2015 San Diego will,for the first time, join over 700 cities worldwide to celebrate
Make Music Day with the inaugural event in Balboa Park this weekend - and everyone is invited to participate!

 

Make Music Day San Diego is proud to be partnering with the City of San Diego's Park and Recreation Department and Friends of Balboa Park to make this year's Make Music Day an official event of the Centennial Celebration of the 1915 Panama-California Exposition. Make Music Day San Diego will be part of a summer-long "Music in the Park Series" held in the Plaza de Panama and created to complement the 35-year tradition of the Twilight in the Park Program.

Golden Hill Community Balboa Park
1915 Expo Centennial Festival SAT. June 20
 
Our neighborhood friends at the Golden Hill CDC are hosting the
Golden Hill Community - Balboa Park 1915 Expo Centennial Festival
on Saturday, June 20 from 11am-8pm at Golden Hill Park  on the East Mesa (at the end of 25th Street in Golden Hill).

Friends of Balboa Park will be there with an information booth.  

 

This event will celebrate the rich culture and history of both Balboa Park and Golden Hill in a fun and interactive way for all ages including: 
  • historical exhibitions, an antique car show, a Westcoaster Historic Beer Garden, a live music stage, food vendors, and more.
  • an Urban Geo Tracking scavenger hunt and mustache contest with prizes for participants.
  • Youth and Family Village offering kid-friendly activities such as games, contests, lawn sports, and a talent showcase. Families are encouraged to learn about the history of our neighborhood while enjoying the live music and fresh food. Centennial Festival Information

Bird Park Summer Concert Schedule

Enjoy these free, family-friendly concerts in the beautiful Bird Park setting for picnics, dancing, and enjoying the music of local talent.  All concerts are from 5:30pm - 7:30pm at Bird Park (Upas St @ 28th Street in North Park). Friends of Balboa Park is a sponsor and will be at the July 11 concert.   See you at Bird Park!

Twilight in the Park Summer Concerts

Twilight in the Park's live music under the stars has been delighting visitors to the Park for 35 years, and programs range from military bands and Dixieland jazz to big band swing and Latin salsa. Concerts run through August 27, on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. on the stage of the majestic Spreckels Organ Pavilion.  Friends of Balboa Park will be a special sponsor for an old fashioned Ice Cream Social "1915 in the Park" on  

Tuesday, August 4 featuring antique cars, barbershop quartet, and dancing lessons, and yes, ice-cream!  Mark your calendars!
