STEAM Day Sunday March 15

PaintedLadyButteflyZoroGarden A world of discovery awaits children of all ages at the Balboa Park STEAM Day on Sunday, March 15, when nearly two dozen cultural organizations present a wide range of activities that explore STEAM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. Events take place from 11am to 3pm and are free with paid museum admission. Participating museums are also offering free admission to children age 12 and under with a paying adult.   Friends of Balboa Park is pleased to again partner with the San Diego Floral Association, Reuben H. Fleet Science Center, and World Beat Center to present "Butterflies in Zoro Garden."  This year, we welcome theNAT who will be there with some of their storied butterfly collection.  This year, as in the past, we will sponsor the release of hundreds of Painted Lady butterflies into the insect friendly garden. Other fun activities include live ladybugs for release, face painting, butterfly crafts, storytelling, and more!  500 live butterflies are arriving in their chrysalis stage and will be hatching soon, ready to take flight for releases planned at 11 am, 12pm, 1pm, and 2pm.  Don't miss the fun!  Click here for more information on the park-wide event.
