MAKE A LASTING DIFFERENCE
THROUGH READINGPALS
The end of the 2014-15 school year marked the conclusion of a successful third year of ReadingPals. This United Way of Broward County initiative focuses on engaging, training and deploying volunteer "reading pals" in our community. In 2012, ReadingPals began in only three locations, and in 2015-16 ReadingPals will expand to 20 locations and serve more than 300 children.

Learn more about how you can become a "reading pal" in 2015-16 and how we recognized the volunteers who made a difference last school year in this special ReadingPals edition of the monthly e-newsletter.
You Can Do It!
Become a "Reading Pal"!

Can you volunteer during school hours? One hour a week helps a child improve their reading skills. "Reading pals" are mentors who use books and conversation to build language skills of Pre-K and first grade students. Each week you will provide the individual attention and encouragement children need to thrive.

Volunteer Training Sessions

In order to become a ReadingPals volunteer, you must attend one of the many training sessions held over the summer and fall. All training sessions are from 1 - 3 p.m. at the
KCW Administrative Building, 600 SE 3rd Avenue, Fort Lauderdale. Sign up for a volunteer training session through email or by calling (954) 453-3742.
