Assisting Those Who Served Our Country | |
MISSION UNITED is a critical new initiative which focuses on supporting the more than 110,000 veterans living in Broward County by helping them re-acclimate to civilian life. Broward County does not have a military base to support these veterans and their families. Many are facing foreclosure, unemployment, legal issues, depression, anxiety and other mental health challenges.
United Way of Broward County and The American Red Cross will use MISSION UNITED to align existing services and create programs where there are gaps in support. As the primary case manager, The American Red Cross will operate its Transition Reintegration Plan "TRP" to deliver vital coordination services and advocacy for these returning veterans. Under MISSION UNITED, United Way of Broward County and The American Red Cross will ensure every military service member is "no more than two steps to help."
As a message of gratitude and support for those who have served our great country, United Way of Broward County and a host of community and corporate partners committed to MISSION UNITED are eager to connect these veterans with a wide array of services to make the transition easier and help them get their lives back.
This Veteran's Day, we ask you to help celebrate our veterans by volunteering or simply thanking a veteran for their service to our country. To donate or learn more about MISSION UNITED, visit www.MissionUnited.org. |

United Way of Broward County and Cross Country Home Services announced the second recipient to benefit from the Operation Appliance Aid program.
Seventy-five year old retired National Guardsman Arnold Merl received a much-needed air conditioning unit on behalf of the program at his home in Tamarac. Arnold and his wife had been living in their home without air conditioning for nearly 10 months before they were presented with the new unit.
