Vail Recreation District is Accepting Candidate Nominations for 3 Open Seats in May 6th Election

 

Deadline for Nominations is February 28

 

The Vail Recreation District is accepting self-nominating petitions for candidates for the upcoming May 6th election. Candidates must be registered to vote in Colorado and either reside within the boundaries of the Vail Recreation District, or own taxable property within the VRD, or be the spouse of an owner of taxable property within the VRD. In addition to the Candidate's signature, one additional signature from a registered elector of the VRD is required.

 

There are 3 open seats on their 5 member Board of Directors. This is an important election; terms are 4 years. Vail's eligible voters, which include Colorado registered voters who own taxable property within the Vail Recreation District's boundaries, have the opportunity to elect Directors who will represent their interests. NOMINATING PETITIONS CURRENTLY AVAILABLE FOR THREE VAIL RECREATION BOARD OF DIRECTOR SEATS FOR MAY 6 ELECTION

 

(Vail)--Nominating petitions are currently available for candidates interested in running for three open seats on the five-member Vail Recreation District Board of Directors. The regular special district election for the VRD will be held May 6. Nominating petitions are available by going to LINK or may be picked up from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday in the VRD administration office, located at 700 S. Frontage Rd. E., adjacent to the Ford Park softball fields.

  

Candidates will have until 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28 to return the nominating petitions. One valid signature from another person eligible to vote in VRD elections is required for certification.

  

The board seats up for election are held by term-limited incumbents Joe Hanlon, Rick Sackbauer and Ken Wilson. The terms of the remaining board members, Jeff Wiles and Billy Suarez, run to May 2016. To qualify for the upcoming VRD Board of Director election, candidates must:

 

  • be a resident of the VRD, or
  • be a property owner in the VRD, or
  • be a spouse of a property owner in the VRD, and
  • be an eligible voter in Colorado

 

Voters will cast ballots from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 6 at the Town of Vail Municipal Building, 75 South Frontage Road.
