Masters Champ Adam Scott "Caddy's for a Cure"

Like most everyone who enjoys golf, we watched and were captivated by The Masters this year when Adam Scott held his ground and beat Angel Cabrera in a playoff. Adam has been a long time supporter of Caddy For A Cure, and we were elated for him with this great victory! What made his win even more exciting for us was knowing that Adam was already on board for participating with Caddy For A Cure at the AT&T National.

As excited as we were, the planned "caddy" for Adam, Jamie Hickok, was jumping for joy! Minnesota resident Jamie had found out about us through her friendship with one of our Board members. Once she knew Adam Scott was available, she jumped at the chance to place her winning auction bid.  At the time, she had no idea she was going to be thrust into the middle of the golf world "on the bag" for the new Masters Champ!

As in our past experience with Adam, he was an extremely courteous and kind host for our amateur caddy while world class TOUR caddy, Steve Williams, enjoyed watching the fun. Jamie had the day of her golf life and an experience she will never forget.

Jamie had planned the caddy experience as an opportunity to team up with her father, Dennis, who stepped inside on one hole to share the fun with his beloved daughter. While Jamie carried a good bit of the round, she also had a little extra assistance when the bag became a bit much by our Senior Military Advisor, LTC Mike, who jumped in to help out. Without question this was another great example of how "caddying for a cure" is a perfect and unique opportunity to create family memories that will last a lifetime while being inside the action of a professional golf event.

Great job Jamie! And "good onya Aussie mate Adam"...great day and great time in Bethesda.

McIlroy, Rose, Westwood  available!

Rory McIlroy, US Open Champion Justin Rose and Lee Westwood head up the line up in August at the first event of the FedExCup Playoffs, The Barclays. Stay tuned for more players as they come on line with Caddy For A Cure.

Liberty Mutual Sponsors Event at Parkland Golf Club

We get inquiries all the time as to "how can I help?"  You have watched us grow, seen our success, and you want to be a part of the action. One of the best ways you can participate  and help is by coming to our golf tournament on December 9th at the Parkland Golf Club, sponsored by Liberty Mutual Insurance.

This Greg Norman masterpiece will be the perfect site for a great time of golf, food, fun, and fellowship with our combat wounded warriors. Our National Spokesperson "Batman" and his cohort "Robin" will be there to add to the excitement and allow you the chance to meet Fanconi anemia firsthand, hearing some inspirational words about it, as well.

Join us, will you please? Due to the fact that we have moved to this very private venue, space is somewhat limited. If you would like to play, give us a shout and let us know you are in to secure your space early and avoid being closed out.

See you in Parkland, Florida in December!

Masters Champ Zach Johnson "Caddy's for a Cure"

You read last year about Davis Ridley when he caddy'd for PGA TOUR player Jonathan Byrd at the Wells Fargo Championship. That experience was a gift from his loving Dad, Dave, and one that will never be forgotten.

Great story this year was that Davis was so overwhelmed with his experience and telling father Dave about it, that DAD decided to get in the mix and shared an experience with one of his best pals at the Crowne Plaza Invitational. He caddy'd for none other than Masters Champion and great guy, Zach Johnson.

Zach has been a long time supporter of Caddy For A Cure and graciously agrees to be there whenever we humbly ask. Since he won last year at Colonial, he was a shoe in to "caddy for a cure" again this year and pick up another "W."

While he did not notch an official TOUR victory, he sure notched some fans in caddies Dave and his pal, David. They could not have enjoyed their day and time more with Zach and quickly announced on the 7th tee box that they were booked for next year, hands down! That is the kind of fun we like to hear about...

As always, the professional TOUR caddy goes along to "teach you the ropes" of being "inside the ropes" and Fort Worth was no different. Superstar pal Damon Green came along and added much fun to the day, along with some sage advice for caddying. Our guys now know the 3 "up's" of caddying, and then some thanks to Damon.

Thanks to Zach Johnson and Damon Green, and to Dave Ridley and David Newman. This was a day none of us will ever forget!

Greetings!

Many of you recall reading about last year's John Deere Classic and the fantastic day
we had with Jason Bohn and the Tudi's Tribe kids recovering from cancer. In fact, we have had the pleasure of arranging these days with Tudi's Tribe the past two years, and decided to make it three in a row at this year's John Deere Classic.

Jason Bohn is clearly one of the unheralded GREAT guys in all of golf. There could really not be a better guy to have these precious young souls, hit hard by cancer, to come along with and escort.

This year was different, though. We had a tragic loss when cancer took Jordan Schmidt from us, and we wanted to acknowledge this somehow. Tudi's Tribe Director Brad Baltzell had a brilliant idea that we could have a replica putter made for Jason of his putter, and we would paint the names of five of the children we have lost from Tudi's Tribe. Even more, we would have the Mom's do the honors "caddying" for Jason on #18 in memory of their lost children.

The entire gesture was stunning. Being there with these wonderful Mom's, devastated by the loss of a child, and carrying the names of their loved one...was essentially what Caddy For A Cure is all about.

When Jason rolled in the 12 footer for birdie with the putter inscribed with  the names there was not a dry eye in the house.

Thank you to Tournament Director, Clair Peterson, and all those at Tudi's Tribe for all you are doing to make a difference in the lives of so many!
