Greetings!
A few months ago a gentleman stumbled upon us and was moved enough to email us a letter describing his experience Here is a portion of his email to us. It was a special letter to us and we think you will understand why if you take a moment to read it:
"A couple of days ago, I ran across a flyer about your organization in Granada. I ran my own non-profit under similar guidelines as yours for 26 years in the US, so I could relate. I love to walk around Granada where I have been visiting for a few days and, lo and behold, what did I stumble upon, but your administrative head-
quarters! I went inside and met Oscar who is such an asset and who has a great personality.
I was so impressed with your "Tutoring Zone" when Anielka and Oscar took me there, that I cried. I left with a framed photo by one of the students and a nagging feeling that I was to sponsor a child.
What most impressed me there was the level of genuine excitement about "learning" that I witnessed. That can't be faked, and the kids were just awesome, enthusiastic, full of smiles and showed genuine kindness that, as I said, 'just can't be faked'. So my decision now is one child or two. I am retired and live on a small pension. None-the-less, giving back to life is always a priority of mine. The world needs more visionaries with implementation skills like you.

Last year we wrote letting you know that for the first time we felt the effects of the economic downturn. Thanks to your amazing responses we we able to get through the year financially! What a relief that was!
Now, here is the caveat, while things are getting better we still really need your help to keep up the momentum!
We hope you, like Tolo, will consider contributing not only your typical amount this year but a bit more to help us continue to regain financial ground as we move forward. This is a critical time for EI's funding because the school year starts in the beginning of February
and that is when the bulk of the expenses are incurred.
As most of you know we are a registered non-profit organization in the USA and also now in Nicaragua. We have high hopes of getting registered in Canada but meanwhile we have a partner and Canada as well as the Netherlands that can receive funds on our behalf and you will receive your tax credit. If either of those are the case please contact me direct by replying to this email so we can work out the details. Thanks so much for your support in these challenging and exiting times and remember that with small nonprofits like ours a little bit goes a long way!
