Letter from the Principal
We are in the home stretch! Another great year at North Forsyth High School will soon come to an end. Please encourage your student to buckle down and finish strong. Sprint to the end!
Every year the month of May is a bit hectic with AP and EOC testing overlapping, followed by senior and, then, underclass finals. This year, we are trying something a little different. We will go into a straight block schedule beginning May 4th and continue throughout the month. Hopefully, having IF every other day during this busy time will give students a chance to study and complete some of those end of year projects and assignments. Please encourage your student to make good use of IF this last month.
I'd like to give you a renovation update. I am sure you have started to see changes around campus already. The new pods (10 classrooms) have been moved to parking lot A and a gravel parking lot has been placed near the middle school. Classes from trailers 901-910 will be moving out to the pods soon. As soon as we are able to move these classes, the trailers near the 800 building will be removed. On June 1st, the campus will begin to look much different. You will notice the construction company erecting fences as they begin preparation for construction. You will receive more detailed information before school starts but I can share a few bits of information now. The main entrance to the school will be on the baseball side of the school. By the time school starts, there will be a parent drop off loop and visitor parking located on the field between the middle and high school (where the 3 small trailers are now). Bus drop off and pick up will be near the 500 hall (where we presently have parent pick up). The area in the front of the school will be fenced off as they begin construction in this area. No one will be allowed to enter from the front of the school. Another set of pods (14 classrooms) will be placed where trailers 914-919 are presently located (near the baseball field). A new parking lot behind the softball field will start taking shape during the summer. I know the big question is what will happen to student parking. Having the new lot in the back and the large lot near the front loop, along with a few smaller areas of parking, there should be no loss of student parking. It will take everyone working together patiently, but together, we will withstand the pains of renovation and have an outstanding building when all is finished.
This will be my last letter to you as your principal. I wanted you to know what an honor it has been to serve as the principal of North Forsyth High School. Over the past eight years, I have witnessed programs growing, students excelling, and the community coming together to support the school. North is a very special place and will always be close to my heart. I know you will give Mr. Cheney your full support as he assumes the leadership role here at North.
Once a Raider, always a Raider,
