At North Forsyth High School, we believe that before and after school activities are an important part of the high school experience. Research shows that students who become involved in extracurricular activities are likely to be more successful in school.
North Forsyth High School takes great pride in offering a wide variety of clubs and activities designed around various student interests and abilities. We hope that by being involved in clubs, organizations, and athletics, our students will develop into well-rounded, productive adults.

The JV and Varsity Academic Teams compete against other high schools in jeopardy-style competitions. The Academic teams have won the state competition three years in a row and competed in New Orleans and Washington DC in national competitions. The teams practice once a week for an hour and compete on Mondays in the fall.

 The Art Club helps promote art appreciation and participation in the art making process. The art club meets once monthly.
The Anime Club will meet monthly after school to study the modern day culture of Japan through the study Anime.
Asian Culture Club

The purpose of the Asian Culture Club is to broaden our knowledge and appreciation for Asian culture and tradition. Club activities will include: Cooking food, discussing history, performing traditional events and discussing art and literature.

NFHS Band Program is an extensive program offering various band opportunities for students.
Raider Marching Band is the band program's premier competition and community relations ensemble. Membership is open to all 9-12 grade woodwind, brass, and percussion students in a band class, and students interested in being part of the Fall Guard. The Raider Marching Band is for students who wish to further develop both their own instrumental skill and that of an ensemble member while performing for thousands of appreciative fans each week. The marching band performs a variety of music such as Rock, Jazz, Classical, and more during their show performances, pep rallies, in the stands at football games, and at community events. Members will be required to attend all football games, competitions, and other scheduled performances. A required marching band camp is held in late July prior to school starting. All students in the band program are expected to participate in this ensemble.
Concert Band is open to all students who are interested in instrumental music study and performance. Concert Band is the first of three performance level ensembles offered at NFHS. Class activities emphasize the development of instrument technique, tone production, tuning, fundamentals of music theory, music reading, and listening skills. In addition to the music education students will receive, involvement in this course will acquaint students with many of the life skills including personal relations, problem solving, and working as a team to produce a product. Students are required and graded on their participation in all Concert Band rehearsals and concerts, and they are expected to participate in the Raider Marching Band.
Symphonic Band (audition only) is open to all students who are interested in instrumental music study and performance, and an audition is required for membership. Symphonic Band is the second of three performance level ensembles offered at NFHS. Class activities emphasize the development of instrument technique, tone production, tuning, fundamentals of music theory, music reading, and listening skills. In addition to the music education students will receive, involvement in this course will acquaint students with many of the life skills including personal relations, problem solving, and working as a team to produce a product. Students are required and graded on their participation in all Symphonic Band rehearsals and concerts, and they are expected to participate in the Raider Marching Band.
Wind Ensemble (audition only) is open to all students who are interested in instrumental music study and performance and an audition is required for membership. The Wind Ensemble the school's elite instrumental performance ensemble. Class activities emphasize the development of instrument technique, tone production, tuning, fundamentals of music theory, music reading, and listening skills. In addition to the music education students will receive, involvement in this course will acquaint students with many of the life skills including personal relations, problem solving, and working as a team to produce a product. Students are required and graded on their participation in all Wind Ensemble rehearsals and concerts, and they are expected to participate in the Raider Marching Band.
Jazz Band is open to all 9-12 students who wish to participate in an ensemble that focuses on jazz styles, performance, and study. An audition may be required by the director. Jazz Band is an extra-curricular and meets outside of the regular school day and rehearses about once a week starting in January for performances in the Spring.
Indoor Drumline is an award-winning extra-curricular percussion ensemble offered to music students at NFHS. Indoor drumline is a continuation of the fundamental skills and performance concepts started each year in the marching band. This ensemble rehearsals two to three times per week from about December through March. Auditions are required for membership, and members must attend all rehearsals and performances scheduled for the ensemble. Along with numerous awards and championships in the past, the Indoor Drumline was the SAPA Scholastic A Champions for 2014.
Winter Guard is an award-winning extra-curricular auxiliary ensemble offered to students at NFHS interested in all aspects of flag and auxiliary weapon technique. Winter Guard is a continuation of the fundamental skills and performance concepts started each year in the Fall Guard section of the marching band. This ensemble rehearsals two to three times per week from about December through March. Auditions are required for membership, and members must attend all rehearsals and performances scheduled for the ensemble.
Each of the band program ensembles have an after school practice schedule and will require involvement in concerts, festivals and competitions which often requires travel.

Carpe Diem Yearbook Team creates and produces the NFHS Yearbook each year. This is a co-curricular team. The Carpe Diem Yearbook Team designs, creates and markets the NFHS yearbook under the guidance of Mrs. Addie Hamilton. The yearbook team meets daily during class time and requires additional time commitments outside the class period.

Carpe Libre Club's purpose is to encourage and celebrate reading for pleasure. Club members, led by their elected officers, will select works to read individually and discuss as a group. These book discussions will be held off-campus approximately one evening a month and will be supervised and facilitated by the two club sponsors.

Raider Chorale is a non-auditioned ensemble comprised of young men & ladies from all grades and musical ability levels. Along with learning basic musical concepts, this ensemble performs a wide variety of music on 2-3 concerts per year. Members of the Raider Chorale also collaborate with the Musical Theatre classes for students to have exposure to stage performances & show/jazz choir music styles
Advanced Women's Chorale is an audition only ensemble open to young women in grades 9-12. This ensemble performs more rigorous 3 & 4 part repertoire for women's voices. We perform 4 to 5 concerts annually and consistently receive Superior ratings at regional and national competitions.
Chamber Singers (Advanced Mixed Choir) is an audition only ensemble for outstanding choral musicians in grades 10-12 (select freshmen will be considered on a space available basis). This ensemble performs some of the most difficult repertoire available to high school choirs. They are ambassadors for the choral program, performing at many events in addition to their busy concert schedule. They consistently receive Superior ratings at regional and national competitions.
All choir students are required to participate in after school rehearsals/concerts and district competitions. NFHS Choir members also have the opportunity to audition for district & all state honor choruses, participate in solo & ensemble festival and travel on our annual spring competition trip.

NFHS Choir - Tri-M Music Honor Society sponsored by Gene Seese
The Tri-M Music Honor Society is the international music honor society for middle/junior high and high school students. It is designed to recognize students for their academic and musical achievements, reward them for their accomplishments and service activities, and to inspire other students to excel at music and leadership. Through more than 5,500 chartered chapters, Tri-M has helped thousands of young people provide years of service through music in schools throughout the world. Tri-M is a program of the National Association for Music Education. All members must meet minimum standards, attend regular meetings and be involved all activities of the chapter. New members are inducted in the fall semester.

Civitan International is an association of community service clubs founded in 1917. The organization aims "to build good citizenship by providing a volunteer organization of clubs dedicated to serving individual and community needs with an emphasis on helping people with developmental disabilities." The organization includes 40,000 members (referred to as Civitans) in almost 1,000 clubs around the world.

The NFHS Debate Team competes in debates throughout the year. The debate team will participate in debate competitions and will meet weekly to prepare for debate competitions.

NFHS DECA expands and educates the members about the marketing process and encourages them to participate in leadership and professional activities that benefit the students, school and commmunity. DECA participates in regional, state and national competitions; fall leadership confernces; fundraisers; and other community service activities. DECA meets once a month on Thursday mornings for Chapter meetings. Competitors will meet weekly prior to competitions.
 The NFHS Drama Tech Club's purpose is to aid the drama program in all their technical theater endeavors. The Drama Tech Club hopes to develop a core of student technicians for backstage work at NFHS events and to further educate students on all of the elements of tech theater giving them opportunities for hands on learning. Any student interested in working on theatre support projects (scenery construction, props, set painting, lighting, sound, costume, makeup, etc) is invited to join Drama Tech Club. The Drama Tech Club will meet on Mondays from 4 -6pm in the PAC.

 The purpose of Habitat for Humanity is four-fold. First, they build homes in the community for families in need. Second, they fund raise for Habitat for Humanity. Third, they advocate for housing for all. Finally, they educate others about the need for low-income housing. The NFHS Habitat for Humanity Club plans to help fund raise for Habitat for Humanity and to participate in building as a club.

HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America)
HOSA's purpose is to promote wellness for students and adults, learn more about different health careers, raise disease awareness, and promote student awareness of professional opportunities in health-related fields.
Activities include: health care speakers within the school, fundraising for increasing disease awareness, visiting hospitals, community service projects for the those who are ill, shut-in, or terminal. HOSA meets once a month.

The Improvisation Club will reinforce acting, presentation and oratory skills. The goal is to help students improve speech, projection and oratory skills and help improve overall confidence. The Improvisation Club will meet the on Monday afternoons, twice a month.

The Interact Club partners with the Roatary Club to build community awareness through local and international service and social projects. Interact Club will meet the first Tuesday of each month at 7:45 am.

 The purpose of the International Club is to promote a supportive and friendly environment that welcomes all students regardless of race, ethnicity, and or nationality. Students will gain a better understanding as we seek to motivate young people to be better citizens by promoting campus diversity, celebrating different cultures and languages, and participating in local community service. The International Club will collaborate with Forsyth Central High School and West Forsyth High School International Clubs in planning several soccer games and community service events. The International Club will meet the first and third Wednesday of each month.

International Thespian Society
The International Thespian Society is an international organization which honors secondary school students for outstanding work in theatre. Activities include participation in the annual state thespian conference,thespian scholarships, community projects.
Investment Concepts and Strategies
 Through guest speakers, sponsor guidance and virtually investing in the stock market students in Investment Concepts and Strategies will grasp and understanding of how to invest smartly and successfully manage money. In addition, those involved with the club will become more involved in out world news, market and other current events.

The NFHS Key Club promotes community involvement and volunteering through events like Kid's Fishing Day, UNICEF, GA Sheriffs' Youth Homes, Century Bike Challenge, Electronics Recycling Fair, & Relay for Life. Key Club meets monthly.

The Latin Club provides a forum for the enrichment of student understanding and the appreciation of the Latin language and Roman culture. This will be achieved through participation in National Junior Classical League activities.

The NFHS Literary Team is an academic team that competes in region and state literary competitions.

 The North Forsyth Math Team is a prelude to the Math Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta. Students from grades 9-12 can participate in Math Team. We compete monthly in Georgia Math League, and we participate in the High School Math Competitions at UGA in October and Ga Tech in February. Students interested in being a part of the Math Team should try to attend as many of the monthly meetings as possible, although attendance is not mandatory.

The NFHS Mock Trial is an academic team that competes in the courtroom in regional and state competitions
Model UN will give students the opportunity to analyze and work through problems that the UN currently deals with around globe. Students will learn valuable ledership skills as well as how to collaborate with others in order to solve problems.

 Mu Alpha Theta is a National High School and Two-Year College Mathematics Honor Society. The purpose of this organization is to promote scholarship in, and enjoyment and understanding of mathematics among high school (or two-year college) students. Mu Alpha Theta students will participate in tutoring during IF, mornings and afternoons, tutoring at the middle school, and possibly establishing a math tournament for our feeder middle schools. Mu Alpha Theta will hold monthly meetings with enriching mathematics discussions/activities and participation in other math tournaments is a possibility.

The National Art Honor Society is a national organization. The goal is to help promote art in the community through service projects. The National Art Honor Society has been involved in the Empty Bowl Dinner, the Botanical Garden and Outdoor Classroom. Meets monthly.

The NHS is a service-based organization that recognizes outstanding high school students, who have earned a minimum GPA of 3.8 and demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Members are invited to the join the National Honor Society, and there is an
Induction ceremony for new members. The NHS meets monthly. The NHS participates in fundraisers for local charities, teacher appreciation breakfast, Northside Hospital holiday helpers, entertainment evenings for local, needy families, individual, service projects.

 The Spanish National Honor Society, also known as the SHH (Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica), is a national academic honor society focused on teaching high school students about the Spanish language and culture. The Honor Society typically meets once a month and has many extra-curricular activities. It is affiliated with the national organization, and its members may participate in the national convention, trips, scholarship opportunities, and scholarly publications. To be inducted as a member of the Spanish National Honor Society, a student must have a minimum cumulative average of 3.0, A's and B's in Spanish classes, and be enrolled in a Spanish class at or above Spanish 4. To remain a member in good standing, a student must meet the NHS attendance, service, and tutoring requirements.

NTHS provides recognition for outstanding student achievement in career & technical education. It encourages higher scholastic achievement, cultivates a desire for personal excellence, and helps top students find success in today's highly competitive workplace.
The Pen and Paper Club is a writing club giving students the opportunity to express themselves in a creative way. Students will meet to discuss their writings and receive constructive criticism. Possible events include writing contests, guest authors /speakers and participation in Novel November. Meetings will meet every other Wednesday from 4:00 - 4:45 pm

Raider Cheer

 Raider Cheer is a squad designed specifically for the exceptional students at NFHS and its feeder schools. They are an integrated part of the Varsity Football Cheer Squad and promote and support acceptance and inclusion of our exceptional students. Participation involves cheering at several varsity games on Friday nights, both home and away during the football season. There are two fundraisers per year, and a performance in the fall pep rally. Practice is once a week with the varsity squad from 4-5 pm.

 To provide the opportunity to learn the game of chess and chess stragegies and to compete with other schools at chess meets. Chess Club meets weekly the first and third Tuesday and the second and fourth Thursday of the Month.

PALSS - Positive Associations Linking Special Students. To nurture and cultivate meaningful relationships between special needs high school population and general students by providing opportunities for students to be integrated into the general population. PALSS sponosors BINGO, lunch, attendance of NFHS events together, and other social activities.
Raider Recretational Club is a social club to create mentorship through learning games. The RRC will meet on Wednesdays after school until 4:45 pm.

The Raider Wire is North Forsyth's online newspaper that is produced by students in the journalism program. Students will explore the history of American media and the responsibilities of the media and develop skills in news writing, editing, layout, photography, and advertising. NF HS MCJROTC
The NFHS MCJROTC is a co-curricular program under the direction of Major Charles Kelly, Gunnery Sergeant Jack Snook, Master Guns Randy Merritt.

The NFHS Color Guard operates under the supervision of the JROTC and Major Kelly. The Color Guard presents the National Colors at appropriate school and community functions and participates in competitions. Color guard will practice one day a week from 4-5 pm. The Color Guard begins the second week of school and continues throught the end of April.

Drill Team sponsored by Major Charles Kelly
The NFHS Drill Team operates under the JROTC and the supervision of Major Kelly. The Drill Team performs at appropriate school and community functions and participates in competitions. Drill Team will practice Monday through Friday from 4 - 6:15 pm starting the second week of school and continuing through mid-March.

The NFHS Rifle Team is a select group of MCJROTC members that operate under MCJROTC and supervison of Gunny Snook. The Rifle Team practices and competes in marksmanship competitions throughout the school year.

Robotics Club integrates science, engineering and math through robotics. Members apply integrated science, technology, and engineering, and mathematics concepts through the co-curricular activity of building robots for competition.

Simply Charity's purpose is to provide students the opportunity to experience and promote charity to fight global poverty from a Biblical perspective by creatively educating the population of NFHS. Simple Charity has an overall goal to raise $100,000 for charity throughout the school year.

 T he NFHS Sign Language Club purpose is to develop an an understanding of the American Sign Language and its culutre. The club hopes to increase appreciation of ASL in our community and devleop career opportunities. Possible events for the NFHS American Sign Language Club are to participate in the Deaf Hard of Hearing Spring Class Event and Exceptional Child Week at Barnes and Noble.

The Social Studies National Honor Society is open to Junior and Senior students taking upper level social science courses and who maintain a 3.5 in Social Science and 3.0 overall average. This club will meet on Wednesdays 4-6 PM (and some Fridays in the spring) to learn various styles of dance (tap, ballet, jazz, hip hop, folk, etc). It is open to any student grades 9-12. We learn various dance styles and work on choreographing pieces to be performed in the Thespian Showcase in April. Club dues are $150.00 per year (includes t-shirt, DVD of performance and all instruction including guest artists). No experience necessary. Students must provide their own dance shoes and attire.

Threshold is a student-created publication that showcases the very best art, poetry, and stories created by North's students. The journalism class creates the publication, but any student can submit work to appear in the magazine. Threshold is an award winning Literary Magazine.

The NF Ultimate Club will provide a very easy source of exercise and companionship for students of all ages and grade levels. The high speed cardiovascular workout associated with a frisbee match is great for the member's health.

"Y" Club is a service organization whose mission is to create, maintain, and extend throughout the home, school, and community high standards of Christian character. Y-club participates in monthly school and community projects and district and state leadership conferences. Club meetings for the 2014-15 school year will be held the last Wednesday morning of each month.
