NON-PROFIT SPOTLIGHT: OUR DAILY BREAD

Our Daily Bread's Food Bridge Program provides short-term food assistance to Fairfax County area residents who are struggling to make ends meet - helping them bridge the gap until they can achieve self-sufficiency. Needy families are referred to the Program by social workers, and generally receive assistance for approximately four to six months. Some clients receive emergency assistance once or twice to get them through a brief crisis.

The Food Bridge utilizes donations of grocery gift cards as well non-perishable food and items for our pantry. Gift Cards allow our clients to meet the specific dietary needs of their family which may include managing food allergies. The card also allow parents to make good nutritional choices for their children that include fruits, vegetables and dairy items we can't store in our pantry or easily deliver. The gift cards also allow our clients to practice newly acquired financial management skills in getting the most out of every dollar they spend for food. Our Food Bridge Supporters collect and deliver either non-perishable food items and supplies or grocery cards to 30 of our Food Bridge clients each Sunday. We continue to have gaps in our Food Delivery Calendar, and grocery cards or additional Food Bridge Supporters are critically needed to make sure our clients receive their food as promised.

DONATE NOW to help us purchase gift cards to local grocery stores such as Shoppers Food Warehouse, Giant and Safeway to help feed our clients. Your donation will help us make a bulk purchase of gift cards at a significant discount. Your organization can link to the donation page to run a grocery card drive by encouraging members to donate on behalf of your organization. Another great way to help: Run a Grocery Card Drive!

Grocery cards may also be mailed to us or dropped by our office Mon-Fri from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 4080 Chain Bridge Road, 2nd Floor, Fairfax, VA 22030. You may belong to an organization or congregation that already works with us and cards may also be contributed through those regular pantry donation and delivery programs.

The goal of the Food BRIDGE is to take our clients from a place of crisis to a place that is stable where food insecurity is concerned. We help them to make good choices, to manage resources and to go forward with new skills in being informed consumers.

Our Food4Thought and Our Daily Veggies programs provide other supplemental food services to Fairfax County area residents.

We joined the Tysons Regional Chamber of Commerce to actively engage in building relationships and alliances within the business community. The Community Impact Council has developed opportunities for our non-profit organization to be spotlighted in the chamber community as we continue to build partnerships specific to our program needs. We are grateful to the chamber's business members and their employees who are becoming more involved in Our Daily Bread's mission to help our clients become self-sustainable in our Fairfax County community.

If you or your organization can support Our Daily Bread's Food BRIDGE Program, contact Christina Garris at 703-273-8829.

COMMUNICATIONS CORNER: Getting Your Highest Conversion Rates

How do you build a website that attracts and encourages visitors to become customers? In our blog about mastering inbound marketing and getting started, we discussed the conversion funnel: content creation and distribution + calls to actions + closing leads = happy and repeat customers.

Conversion rate optimization means keeping your website user friendly, making regular updates to your landing page, and improving your affiliate marketing campaign to target more specific personas.

Convert those qualified leads to then increase your sales. Help online visitors and Google searchers find your website while they are surfing the web. Then, direct them to a landing page with the information they want, i.e. a video, blog Q&A, coupon, or whitepaper to download. Finally, direct them to make a purchase (i.e. a "call to action").

But before you begin the steps to creating the ultimate "conversion machine" of a website, ask yourself these questions:
