As the Chairman of the Board of the Tysons Regional Chamber of Commerce (TRCC), it is my pleasure to welcome everyone into the New Year with a brief update of TRCC activities.

I would like to start off by thanking all members and guests who attended our first Mixer of the year at BlackFinn Ameripub.  Attendance was excellent and everyone enjoyed making connections.  The Chamber TIPS group presented a check for $730.00 to the Insight Memory Care Center.  The TIPS group had been collecting money through a 50/50 Raffle and Insight was the designated charity.

Each month, the Community Impact Council will invite a Non-Profit Member to be spotlighted at the Mixer.  Jan Ridgely of United Charitable Programs is doing an excellent job developing the Community Impact Council.

There was a great amount of excitement at the Mixer when we announced Sponsorship opportunities for our annual Casino Night, which will be held on February 28, 2014 at the Westwood Country Club.  This year, Casino Night will be benefiting Fairfax 2015 World Police and Fire Games.

The Government Contracting Council continues to host excellent events.  James Boland of Venable LLP has taken over as the Chair of the GovCon Council since Tony Barnett of Leros Technologies has been promoted to the Vice President of Programs.

The Emerging Leaders Council, led by Stacy Bradford of Insperity, is hosting their first Mixer of the year at Chima Brazilian Steakhouse on January 30, 2014, and will be offering excellent new educational programs throughout the year.

The Youth and Education Council, led by Maureen Loftus of Learning RX, has already started the year off well with the Job Shadow Program.  The Program is an opportunity for high school students to "shadow" members in the business community in various career fields to gain real life professional experience.

There are many excellent opportunities during the course of the year for Chamber members to make business connections and pick up valuable information in order to improve their business.

Please check the website often for events and programs.  If you would like to join a Council, we would be delighted.  Feel free to contact myself or Sharon Brown at the Chamber office for more information.

Warm Regards,

Mark S. Rogoff

Chairman of the Board

Member Spotlight:  StrataPoint Financial

StrataPoint Financial has been providing managerial accounting services to area businesses, and some national, and international companies, since 2007.  The range of services provided include CFO and controller services, capital formation, merger and acquisition assistance, turn-around management and bookkeeping services.  StrataPoint targets companies doing revenues between $1 and $50 million, although the company has helped numerous start-ups and even provides services to the largest publicly traded company in France.  While StrataPoint has provided services to sophisticated private equity firms, its focus is the smaller Mom and Pop businesses which may lack financial expertise and can't afford a full time CFO or Controller.

As the trusted "financial quarterback" for its clients, StrataPoint provides comprehensive "back office" accounting and financial solutions so its clients can focus on running their businesses without getting weighed down by administrative tasks.  Through disciplined, task oriented, accounting management, StrataPoint delivers quality financial statements to principals giving them clear vision into business operations.  StrataPoint's advisory services help clients analyze results so they can recognize future opportunities and potential threats.

StrataPoint professionals have experienced numerous phases of business growth giving them considerable insight into accounting and financial infrastructure, systems, and processes necessary for growth.  Critical to this is modeling the future capital needs of a business and helping the principals of those organizations identify the right debt and equity partners.

StrataPoint also has government contract accounting experience and helped launch the government contracting council for the Chamber by serving on the initial panel.  StrataPoint seeks any opportunity to serve the Tysons community which they have belonged since the formation of the company.  Leveraging the Chamber and its partners, StrataPoint has grown quickly during recent years.  While StrataPoint now has national reach, StrataPoint still looks to expand its connections within the local community where it got its start.
