On the Big Screen
Winter is a great time to take in a movie. Whatcom County has some of the best cinema experiences for everyone.   

Pickford Cinema - The most unique movie experience in Bellingham is at the Pickford's new location on Bay Street. Independent movies, comfortable seats, a variety of snack choices, beer & wine beverages, and much more! If you haven't had a chance to check it out then you must... They also run the Limelight theatre too.

Regal Barkley Village Stadium 16 IMAX and RPX - The brand new multi-plex just opened in December and offers a first-rate experience for new releases and 3-D movie watching.

Regal Bellis Fair Cinema - Need a break from shopping? Take in a movie at the Bellis Fair Mall. This Regal theater has 6 screens & is conveniently located near the front entrance to the mall.

Resolution Run & Padden Dip - Jan 1
Come out to celebrate the New Year with the 2.6 Mile and 5.2 Mile Resolution run! Shortly after the run everyone will get together for a quick Polar Bear dip with coffee and snacks to follow. It's all free so come out and start your New Year right! 

Birch Bay Polar Bear Swim - Jan 1
The 2012 Annual Birch Bay Polar Bear Plunge drew approximately 600 participants that took the plunge in to the bay's icy waters. This event also draws about 1,500 on-shore onlookers/cheerleaders watching as hundreds of shivering brave souls plunge into the icy waters of Birch Bay as a kind of ritual celebrating the start to a new year.

 

Gallery Walk - Jan 4  

Downtown Art Walk exhibits the high quality of artists and remarkable variety of venues present in downtown Bellingham. From 6-10pm on the first Friday of every month, galleries, boutiques, restaurants, studios and more keep their doors open to showcase a wide array of artwork by local and renowned visiting artists.  

 

Six teams of filmmakers create short films in two weeks based on the theme of the second night of the 48 Hour Theater Festival. That's a lot of numbers. It's also sure to be a great and unexpected time. At the Idiom Theatre.

Daily & Vincent at the Mount Baker Theatre - "The most celebrated new bluegrass act of the last few years," says The New York Times. The International Bluegrass Music Association agrees, having presented Dailey & Vincent with 13 awards in recent years, including Album of the Year and, for two years in a row, Entertainer of the Year.

Receiving critical acclaim, he performs over 200 nights a year to sell out audiences throughout Europe, New Zealand, Canada and United States. He is one of a few performers to sell out multiple renowned theatres including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and most recently a sold out Broadway run at the Richard Rodgers Theatre in NYC.
