2016 Putting Kids First: Community Back To School Bash - Registration Deadline Is June 17th
We are thrilled to announce the 2016 Putting Kids First: Community Back to School Bash! This wonderful annual event will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at six (6) locations throughout the County, and we need your assistance with registering all kids in need in our Countywide Community Revitalization Team (CCRT) communities. As you probably know, the Office of Community Revitalization (OCR) has been partnering with the Community Back to School Bash (CBSB) collaborative to provide school supplies to kids in need from Kindergarten to 12th grade. The program is a countywide initiative of government working in partnership with the Community Back to School Bash (BASH) and other community service organizations to provide children in need with school supplies and backpacks. The program is implemented through an annual event funded by Palm Beach County and the CBSB collaborative, comprised of more than 60 nonprofit and other agencies.

EmpowHER Leadership Academy for Girls will empower female students from various schools throughout the Palm Beach County District. The academy supports diversity and would introduce the junior and senior girls to organizations that are led by women executives and will focus on job shadowing, interview skills, resume writing, effective communication both verbal and written, career exploration and much more. The Leadership Academy is free and open to twenty (20) young ladies thanks to the generous donations of our sponsors. The Leadership Academy will meet once a month during the Palm Beach County School District calendar beginning in September of 2016, with eight (8) planned business tours in the areas of Leadership Empowerment (leadership and branding), Political Empowerment, Economic Empowerment and Education Empowerment. Training will be provided from Palm Beach County's Women Experts. The Leadership Academy participants will also be provided with a trip to Tallahassee to tour the Florida State Capitol. The tour would offer the girls an opportunity to meet face-to-face with legislators and learn more about the political process. Upon completion of the program in May of 2017, participants will finish with a leadership certificate and community service hours to be awarded during our year end Student Achievement Awards Program.
Criteria to participate:
* Full-time student in Palm Beach County School System
* Grade Point Average (GPA) of a 2.5 and higher
* Essay describing why you feel you are a good candidate for this program
