Children can spend time reading in the library, and earn Dewey Bucks to pay overdue fines on their library cards, purchase a replacement card, or buy a book bag (15 mins. = One Dewey Buck). Dewey Bucks cannot by used to pay for lost or damaged materials.
How it works:
1. Children and teens up to age 17 can participate.
2. Sign in with a Children's staff member who will record time.
3. While in the library, they can get credit for:
Reading by themselves.
Reading to/with younger children. If children are reading to each other, both earn credit.
4. Read any print media: books, magazines or newspapers.
5. After completing 15 minutes of reading, get a Dewey Buck from a library staff member.

Tuesday, July 28, 2015
1:00 pm - 3:00 pm No Cost
I bet you thought your Donors were your most important asset. They are way up there on the "important" list but do not forget about your Volunteers. Where would you be without them? How do you find them, train them, manage them, reward them, evaluate them, engage them, motivate them, measure their performance, grow them within the organization and build the loyalty and strength you so desire for them. Then, once you've done all of that how does your succession plan look, because you know that day will come and you must be ready for it. There are thing that you can do to build the Volunteer Corps that you want.

In addition, now that DCF is using the clearinghouse for their screenings, photos are required with the screens - which adds to the amount of processing for the livescan vendor. Free Behavioral Health Screening for Back to School
Back to school health exams for children are well underway at many area health clinics and pediatrician's offices. But is your child getting the most complete care possible? MHAPBC is working with 15 local doctor's offices to provide simple well-child screenings for depression and anxiety as part of the regular exams needed for back to school. One of the most significant predictors of problems in school is unidentified depression and anxiety and between 15 and 20% of children have these conditions and are undiagnosed. We are working with local pediatricians, community centers, and after-school programs to ensure that children get the complete health care - including a 'check-up from the neck up'!
If you are a parent, service provider, pediatrician or caregiver and would like to know more about this free mental health screening program, please contact us on our NEW Mental Health GPS Helpline -- 561.801.HELP (4357). Call if you would like a free screening or just want to talk about mental health care and resources in our community. 561.801.4357
